My clutch switch has been out so I always just started my bike in neutral. Well earlier today for some reason my neutral light would not come on so to get my bike started to get were I was going I cut the clutch switch wires and twisted them together. Well my question is will that cause me any issues riding like that?

Firebolt, probably a worthless answer since it wasn't the same bike, but I've owned multiple DR650's and always disabled the clutch switch the same way with no problems while riding.

It is not an issue, just make sure you are in neutral or are squeezing the lever when starting. : )

The clutch switch, neutral switch and kickstand switch are all nanny features, and IMO, more annoying than anything.

If you put your hand on the headers, you're going to get burned. Do you need a safety switch for that?

The switches are easily defeated. Look at the wiring diagrams.

If you are fully attentive you'll get away with it... but all it takes is one time and BAM! Kind of like using the "pull out" method - roll the dice, take your chances and take personal responsibility in case "it" happens.
