..and "Woohoo!" I sometimes forget how fun this bike is to ride! (I normally ride my Uly, which is a blast to ride...but a different fun). And have I mentioned lately that I'll take the 9 motor over the 12 ANY DAY? Carry on... |

You would probably like the Blast motor over the 9 then too |

Andy what makes you like the 9's better? I have the 9 and love it but often think if only I would have had the extra $ I would have got the 12 just for the extra power it supposedly has... |

I have a 9 and love it! But I've never ragged on a 12, how's it different? My 2003 "9" with race kit would stick side by side my buddies 07 "12" ( with full exhaust ) from zero to 100 ( never really tried after 100) Literally side by side!! All the way through the gears! But I just assumed he needed a better tune. I'm just curious. |

Rah, the shorter gearing on the 9 makes up for the lower power, and ends up evening things out till about 100, then the 12 keeps going while the 9 starts to level off. Meanwhile I pass by on one wheel on my 1125R and throw out a tow cable to help you speed up |

yeah the gearing makes up for the lesser power, so it is literally aout the same acceleration in the speeds where it matters. And the 9 does it smoother, more free-revving than the 12. I'm riding the 9 right now because I am installing the 9 gearing on my Uly...so I may change my opinion after that! however, that won't change the fact that the 9 is more rev happy... |

Yea! I wish I did'nt have that stupid 12. All that stupid torque and that bad ass deeper sexy sound is dumb too. I sure wish I had a 9 so I could rev higher like a jap bike. Maybe I should just by a jap bike. Stupid 12. |

Brightbuell are you really comparing the rev on a 9 to a jap inline 4? |

XB9 the only way to fly I love my XB9 and chose it over the 12 its smoother and has less idle vibration than the 12 so its better for my commute. if I could have a second bike for tearing it up it would be a 12R the 1125 is nice but I really like the personality of the XB bikes but if the 1190 does make it to the streets screw personality I want that bike! |

I can promise you the 9 is NOTHING close to a high revving jap bike!! I came off of an online 4 that had a14,500 redline. My 9 is MUCH MUCH different. It's kinda like the old chevy guys.... My big block is better..... F-U my small block is better! Haha let's just ride in peace and be proud to sport the Buell name on our bikes. |

What Rah7^7 said. I recently got an IL4 with a 14,500 redline, and it is a COMPLETELY different animal compared to my twin. |

There is much more of a difference in power between a 9 and a 12 when riding at altitude here in Colorado. 9's have a much harder time keeping up with the 12's. |

I have not ridden a xb12 much more then a 15 minute test ride at a dealership once but I do like how my 9 feels over the way my M2 felt. |

I have one of each type, Tuber, XB9, XB12, and an 1125. In the tight twisties, the XB9 is the most FUN out of all four. The 9 powerplant makes smooth and linear power, I have yet to ride a 12 that doesn't surge around 3500 RPM's, and that's no fun in the corners. |

Mine, but it normally sees me riding at 2000rpm, getting better fuel economy than a 9 |

Didn't Erik Buell say somewhere that the 9 was what he chose to ride? I have both and love them both for what they do differently. The 9 is high strung and a blast in town. The 12 has longer legs and is great for road trips. BOTH carve better then anything I've ever ridden, just ask the ricers I ride with, they often see nothing but tail light in the twisties. That's the reason I bought Buells. |

I've owned both and currently have a 12. I'd never go back to a 9 unless I got a REALLY good deal. The 'deficiencies' everyone mentions on the 12 are true, but easily correctable. The gearing was too tall IMO for my riding; XB9 gearing solved that - and lessened the flywheel effect. There was quite a surge (stock) around 3500 RPM; tuning solved that. I've had the same mods on both bikes (both Lightnings, too). 12 is better in every way IMO. Of course, opinions are like assholes... |

Yeah, once the niggles are worked out of my 12, I think I will like it better. Fresh breather reroute and 9 gearing. The breather reroute took care of the low RPM stumbliness that I had, the 9 gearing will just plain make it more fun to ride! Both bike are extremely fun to ride, but in mostly stock trim (9 has factory race kit, 12 has race ECM, SS Drummer and K&N), I'll take the 9! |

^^ I can agree with that. And bottom line, to each their own. I'd just hate to see someone pass up on a 12 w/o knowing the potential. In the real world, the 12 works so damn well. With an open airbox, breather reroute, Drummer, minimal tuning, and regearing, I could practically eliminate gears 1, 2, and 3 and still have a blast. All while getting 50+ mpg! And the best part is that the open airbox, breather reroute, and tuning can be done for less than $100. |

after reading everyone rave about the 9 and 12... try this on for size... what about a big bore 9 vs 12, and more importantly, how would a big bore 9 vs big bore 12 compare? im running the 12 with shaved 9 pistons and stg3 heads, so i cant compare, im the apple to your orange :/ |

It does not say a thing because I have met girls that are faster than me on any bike, and I have seen girls own much more "manley" bikes than I own. To me the only girl only bikes I have ever seen are the ones painted with a girly paint job, like for instance the purple blast with the rose on it that came out for a few years. |

The 9 is my fiance's bike! When I first set up the suspension, I went on a ride with about 8 guys. One of them (on a GSXR600) said before we went "cute bike!". I just said, "let's ride!" He admired the bike by the end of the day, since he couldn't keep up |
