Have a xb12r. 7,000 miles, purchased at 5,000 miles. Have had it checked about 500 miles ago with full service and warranty checkup. All was good?

Was riding home yesterday and my bike quite with no warning. The reserve light had just flickered on and had gone 4.5 miles when it just stopped.

Went and put 2-1/2 or 3 gal of premium gas in and still will not start.

Any ideas?

I am probably taking it in on warranty which runs out in Dec '11.

What happens when the key turns on? Do you get power? Do the gauges sweep?

What happens when you turn the kill switch on? Does the check engine light come on? Do you hear the fuel pump prime?

What happens when you press the starter? Any clicks? Does the engine try and crank?

Sorry for the load of questions, but you didn't give us much to work with. Also, check all your fuses.

Yes I get power.
Yes the gauges sweep.
Engine light comes on and pump primes.
Try's to turn the motor over.

I have hooked up a battery charger and I am recharging the battery so I can try again. used it all up before.

I am thinking fowled plugs?

Yes at cruising speed.

Ran Fowled Plug Sequence and still did not fire.

I have put into the dealership hoping it will be covered under the warranty issue!

What's a fouled plug sequence?

The newer XBs have a sequence to get the ignition to fire the plugs without turning over the engine to burn deposits off.

Keep a few spare fuses handy. It seems like some 09's have a bad batch of fuel pumps. Getting the pump replaced under warranty will cure the issue for good.

My '09 XB9SX fuel pump is on order now. 9 or 10 fuses blown in 18 months and HD finally decided to replace it. I have 10 or so fuses in my saddlebag.

That is good to know. So it just quits while running wide open every so often? Put the fuse in and your going again? Is it in the left or right fuse box in the fairing?

Right box is fuse, left box is relays.
