A 9 can will fit a 12. The headers are a different diameter but the collector is the same size, and all the mounting points are the same.

Perhaps if you list the specific cans you're interested in, you'll get more relevent info.

Hogs

all the home made tricks used on a 9 pipe will work on a 12 pipe, only diff in the pipes is the valve and all the homemade mods are at the rear of the pipe....

but of course I would listen to fullpower....

All the experimenting has been done by folks with race experience and access to dyno run after dyno run by the Drummer folks. I doubt they'd share the secrets. But, what they do seems to be the shiznit.

420 I can't see how some OS people wouldn't be taking your pipe to send it to the Drummer factory for modification (save some freight). Don't know what the pipe is really worth but the Drummers were doing the stock ones for $100 until they ran out.
Hog, if you want really good performance go the Drummer.

I think the going rate on Ebay for a stock 9 pipe is around 50 bucks. Some go cheaper than that.

I tried 1 mod to the stock 9 can....I first cut the end cap off it (at an angle to avoid the outtake) then removed a small section of the last piece of pipe leading to the outtake...ran like crap in the low end..ok in the higher (above 4K), but the bike ran waaay too lean

so I "undid" that and put it back together...

the path the exhaust follows through the can is essentially a big "S" - down the length of the can, back up to a baffle and down again then out.
I read in a thread here that someone cut a section out of the top of the can and cut a small section out of two of the pipes, effectively bypassing the lower half of the "S". I would imagine this is not much better...tho the path is a little longer than my effort so it may be...does anyone know/remember who did that?

I love the performance of the Buell race muffler I'm running now...good sound, great performance

If the Drummer wasn't a modified stock, I'd say modifying the stock is a waste, but I was unable to get anything decent out of it.

Pics or no pics, believe me its not worth your time.

Recognize good advice when you get it. You're reinventing the wheel. Get a drummer. If ya can't afford it, start saving money.

btw, a simple search brought this up for me: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/32777/57102.html?1085112692

Hope that helps,
Ingemar.

I just want everyone to know that the only reason that I use the stock can to modify is because that everybody that bought an XB series motorcycle should have one... Its just easier this way...I can modify a car muffler to fit and work on your bikes or perhaps o piece from gallon barrell...It is all material choice in my eyes...So don't be afraid to modify what you already own just because it started out as an original piece....makes no difference of the materil you use as long as you get to the same conclusion...KEVIN

Thanks Ingemar for ur 2cents...However...You seem to forget where the So call "Drummer" arrived from..It does not mean that the Drummer is the "only" Mod on a Stock Xb can that will work. One might work Better or Not as good as the drummer who can say..its just giving up my stock xb12 can plus the $$$$$ to have A Drummer I have the welding, and basic knowedge of engines HAving owned and Modifly for the past 35 years 50 now so No offence taken but theres always another view ...Thanks

Hello Kevin

Well I think I just repeated what you said ...your 100% Right.. Its like I like to play around if those are the right words to use.. I choose to keep my stock Can And any stock gear for that matter I wish to make mods to, in case of future sale..Or whatever...For me here to ship My stock can down there and purchase lets say the Drummer With The Canadian Dollar value to the USA dollar It all Adds up to alot of Coin.. And lets say I make mods to a Can and its lets say 5 hp. and 5 lbs. of torque less than an other at least it cost me the price of a used can say 50. t0 100. bucks and I did it myself XB 12 has more than enough hp and torque for me still if the above is true...Hope All can understand this...:-)))

Hogs,

I understand. Sorry for coming on a bit strong, like I said in another thread what I say does not always carry over the net the way I intend it to. I need to watch how I type things up.

Give it a shot and keep us informed about the results. I know I didn't sound like it, but I am interested in the results.

Good luck with it!
Ingemar.
