I had some minor scratches on the left side of my 07 XB12STT frame puck, so a couple of weeks ago, I ordered them at my local Harley Shop. Get a phone call today from the dealership and he tells me they are obsolete. He called other dealerships in Ga to see if they had any, but no luck.

Glad the Motor Company will continue to supply Buell parts for seven years?

Yes the Uly pucks are obsolete, the tooling has been destroyed.

Still have to ask about this mythical 7 year fantasy. WHERE do all these people get this idea?

Hardly is NOT obligated to do anything much beyond sell parts until they are out of stock (and offer you a deal on a doo-rag)

Put a wish in one hand, a turd in the other and tell me which one is fuller.

The tooling was destroyed!? I loath HD more with each passing day. I wish they would at least leave a path that would allow for the aftermarket to purchase the tooling and support the existing bikes. To destroy the tooling and make a part obsolete a few short months after killing the brand just demonstrates the disdain that current management had for Buell. I think they have lost me as a customer forever, after having owned 3 HDs and a Buell.

Last week I was buying stuff for regular maintenance. The chrome specialist actually didn't want to sell me a filter and plugs saying they weren't really a Buell dealer any more. The guy next to me at the counter grabbed a business card from the holder sliding it my way and left his finger pointing to where it said HD & Buell. I have often defended HD when unfairly criticized by those that would never own one and speak from ignorance. I'm beginning to be OK with folks being blissfully ignorant about HD bikes.

I have heard a few stories, but from what I understand, HD pissed off the vendor and the vendor basically said eff you, and destroyed it.

I have also heard that HD accidentally told them to destroy the tooling during the whole closing thing.

I would think that if the vendor destroyed the tooling on their own they would be responsible for the cost to creating new tooling. If they have anything from HD telling them to do it then it's gone forever. Either way at this point it's HD's decision to make them obsolete. These aren't terribly complicated pieces that would cost that much to recreate from the original pieces.

I think opportunities for some creative accessory mfg would be getting ripe about now.

Well, before the factory came out with the current pucks, American Sport Bike was selling some that they'd fabbed up. Not quite the refined piece that we all see now, but in 2004 and earlier, they were all you could get and were pretty good.

The standard frame pucks are pretty useless anyway. I've seen more than a few bikes that have had low speed slides and ripped the pucks off from the frame as they were not stuck on particularly well. They use double sided tape to attach, which softens when the frame gets hot. Great for when you bike falls off the sidestand but not too good in a 'proper' crash.

I've lost count of how many pucks I have used over the years, they work fantastic.

Wrong. They do use glue and I bet you won't be able to peel them off using your hands, fingers, screwdriver and knife unless you use rubber alcohol (and it is tough even with that). I lowsided last year and the bike slid for 10 meters on the puck saving the frame from scratches.

If the frame is properly cleaned and prepped they should be very nearly permanent since there is a very large surface area for the adhesive to grab.

The aftermarket will prevail where the brupabrupa America-haters will (probably intentionally) fail. Wuck Fandell, Buell has survived worse.

Won't stop me, I'll make my own, there isn't anything that can not be made if you are clever enough. I'll make a set for my bike out of laminated materials that I can shape and glue back on.

We are Americans we can make anything.

Crap, I ordered some on Thursday. The one's they had in stock were for an 06-08 model Firebolt XB12R, and won't fit the 04 model that I have. I didn't know they had different frames....... So --- on Thursday they ordered some for my 04. I haven't had a call yet telling me they can't get them.

We'll see what happens.

Whew, Thanks for the good news 020283.

I was starting to think about making some.

That being said, they have one pair left here in Dothan, Al. Let me know if anyone needs the number, I'm sure they can ship it to who ever needs them.

they are not a different frame unless its an 06-later Ss, X, XT or STT. the firebolt frames are the same since the beginning...

Well same outside shape, didn't they delete the hole for the air intake in 06 giving back another bit of fuel space.

The Carbon fiber frame rail covvers are a much better product as far as protection and look great . You can also get covers in fiberglass from Solobuell( good buell parts suppy) for about 150$ a pair same in carbon fiber from MDI carbon ( ebay) But they are 4 inches short .

I am looking in my 07 parts manual and all XB models list the same part #s M0028.1AKA left and M0029.1AKA right.
No difference between any of the models.
