I did some searching earlier as I was thinking about a double bubble... Found out that the DB has a bad habit of melting the dash on bikes so decided that was not the model to get. So has anyone read of any melting problems resulting from the Sport Touring screen? My bike is all black, gray, and white (almost angelic white plastics) so I was thinking of getting the dark smoke to compliment the color scheme. The biggest reason is that the stock screen throws all the little bugs straight into the chin vent on my helmet, and these are small enough to make it through the screen without damage. Tired of live bugs in my helmet. |

I never had a problem with my ZG double bubble. Put about 6k on the bike with it, didn't notice any melting. |

I think the problem was what angle the bike was parked in relation to the sun. A friend of mine just carried a small towel, and set it over the dash whenever he parked it out in the sun. |

I have had an Zero G ST screen on my 12R for lot and lots of miles and gets parked in the sun with never a problem. Get one, they are a big improvement over the stock screen for moving air over you. |

ST screens won't do the dash melt thing. Firebolt DB screens can. 1125 DB screens won't. If the sun is low in the sky, directly behind the bike, the firebolt DB screen acts like a parabola and focuses a reflection onto the dash. I played with a firebolt DB screen off the bike in the sun and was able to focus a pretty tight little dot of light with it that got exceptionally hot. It wouldn't quite set a dried leaf on fire, but it could smoke it. But I couldn't do the same with an 1125 DB screen. Al |
