Found a 2007 XB12R 1,800mi $4,700.00 clear title in hand. Bike is on its second owner (@800mi)and is all stock, never downed. To me this sounds like a very good deal and makes me wonder.....so many possibilities.

So I'm planning on makin the hour and half ride to go see it on Monday but want to be armed with the best questions and things to inspect so that I don't end up with a problem. What are some good indicators to look for to insure the engine and drivetrain are healthy. Do you always take it to a dealership for inspection. Any and all advice will be very helpful, thanks everyone.

See if they have service receipts.

If they have a newer model like the 1125 that went through the firesale last fall that might be a very good reason to sell the older machine.

Thanks Greg_e hadn't thought of that reason for the sale.

He does not have service receipts,
hopefully it hasn't needed much service considering the miles, lol

Did it have the 1000 mile service performed? If not get 250 or 300 bones knocked off to have it done. Look to see how much rubber is left on the rear. Good indication of the type miles put on it. Long cuts around the tire indicate burnouts.

I'd plan on a complete service with only 1800 miles on it. Just me, I don't like stale oil.
