i decided to take off the d&d pipe and race ercm on my 04 xb12r. what year ecm will fit? i was told a 05 up will work better. i just found a 05 ecm,the p/n are way different and i dont want to screw anything else up.will it fit?

Why are you taking the ECM off?
I wouldn't, unless of course it ran like crap without the D&D, but I'd have to try it out for a day or two to find out.

Are you going back to the stock pipe? If so I recommend you just swap the pipes and leave the ECM. You won't have the valve function, but it is only a loss at full throttle. You can also get a race ECM from Erik Buell Racing that works good for the stock pipe and uses the valve.

But to answer your question, any XB12 ECM from 2004-2007 would work but they made changes to the air intake and such over the years so if possible stick to an 04 ECM.

If you are willing to fool around with it in ECMspy, any 05-07 XB9 ECM would work too if you reprogram it.

it used to run alot better before i had it re programed. its now fussy, pops and hiccups,stalls when cold,etc. it was smooth and fun to ride before.
re programing it back is out of the question for me,the last time it was down for a month before i payed someone to do it.

besides the exhaust i did the breather mod,a k&n filter,and the stock pipe has been modded with the valve removed.

What r your goals by doing this? You seam to be undoing what most are trying to do. Are you confused or really old?
