Is there anybody out there that has an extra or knows where someone can get a replacement fuel pump for an XB12R? I called my local 'Will Continue to Support Buell' Harley/Buell dealer today to have them tell me that they are still available but back ordered until August. And damn I don't want to lose out on 2 months of prime midwest riding. So any help would be very greatly appreciated.

Have you tried calling other dealers? Mabey one can do a nationwide search and have it shipped. Id try a dealer that is a sponsor here. They seem to care a little more than the average HD dealer. Either that or try American sport bike. I dont know if they would have it but its worth a shot. Erik Buell Racing might be worth a try as well.

my 12ss has been in the shop waiting for a fuel pump for about a month. apparently HD is moving Buell parts to a new warehouse, causing some of the delay. there is supposed to be some word out tomorrow, 6/25, about availability. mine started blowing fuel pump fuses. what is yours doing? didn't think of American Sport Bike. might try them tomorrow.

I don't know who your local dealer is.
The big city that starts with a "C" Harley Davidson in your state will let you purchase one from their web site, they also have excellent prices.

There is info on the badweb about fixing the pump. (If it is a an internal short) A search may find what you need.

Symptom was blown ignition fuse. Sorry I can't be of more help.

That sucks. Mine's an '09 also but I only have 500 miles on it. I hope I don't get to see the same condition with mine! My build date is Jan '09. Any chance yours is close?

My XB9SX blew 3 fuel pump fuses last year and one so far this year. All were under low fuel level and warmer than normal temperature conditions. Perhaps we need to communicate with Buell, pardon me, HD service about this. There seems to be an issue.

Bike is at the dealers so I don't know build date. Is there some way to tell by the VIN? I'm beginning to think it is a fairly common problem. No one seems to have one in stock. Didn't seem to have any unusual circumstances when they started blowing. Sometimes it would be several miles before it blew and sometimes a few feet.

The wiring on the fuel pump was problematic on some years. You can remove the pump, repair the wires, improve the insulation, and be good to go again. I only know of a few pumps that actually were legitimately dead.

Only the year.

froggy, could you be a little more specific on what to do? I have been calling around the country trying to find one [fuel pump] and no one i have called has any. my dealer seems to be trying. i have a long trip with my son coming up the end of july and as of now it appears i won't have the bike. doesn't do any good for HD to warranty something if they aren't going to supply parts.

Here we go again. Blew fuel pump fuse on my XB9SX[09] on July 5th and 7th[7 in 18 months]. Also on 7th[97 degrees hot] the 15 amp fuse for the lights and starter switch died. Popped in the spare and it died. This happened once last year and Latus got me back on the road after a few hours of cleaning and greasing various wires. Destination has it now because I don't want to bump start it. What can I do to get it back soon? Being a poor mechanic has me at their mercy.

Sounds like the fuel pump fuse is blowing in hot weather and / or low fuel.

Trying to think of the cause, - sounds like the pump might be overheating? I am thinking that it uses fuel to help cool it.

So far, no problem with my '08 12Ss with about 8K miles on it in 90 deg weather, but I always try to fill up with over a gallon left.

Point being, in hot weather it might be wise to fill up early whenever possible.
