I have the primary swap conversion on order and the Uly is apart waiting for the parts. The one question I have is what size of sockets do I need to remove the primary and clutch fasteners? They are close to 30mm but I do not want to chance a slip at 240ftlbs.

This was posted in another thread, second from bottom...

The engine sprocket was either a 28mm or 1-1/8"...Someone else might be able to confirm. I recall clutch using larger. 30 mm, maybe? Either way, I have all sizes up to 30 mm and didn't have to buy new tools.

I used 1 1/8" on my engine sprocket. Would like to see if 28mm is a better fit as there was just a tad bit of slop. Used a six side Craftsman 1/2" drive.

Did you buy the sprocket with the rotor cover? For 08+ I don't think there is a choice. For earlier models you will need a good press to get it off and the new on one. I've seen a couple of rotors that have been destroyed.

You need a locking bar between the clutch and the pulley to stop it turning while you undo the nut.

You need to undo the clutch assembly but you can usually get the chain off without taking the clutch basket all the way off.

I can't help with sizes.

sorry ahouls have been more specific, I majorly messed up my 04 and will be taking off the primary drive and the front pulley for the belt drive to see if the cases are visibly damaged. ( the clutch and front sprocket move up a good 1/2" as i rotate the rear wheel with bike on stands. I know ill be tearing into the motor anyway i'd just like to take the pieces off before diving into it. once again i dont mean to steal the thread just thought while we are going over nut sizes we could answer one for me.

The front drive sprocket (belt) nut is 1-7/8". I know this because I had to buy the socket special. You'll also need the sprocket tool (or make your own) to hold the sprocket.
