Do you have the original headlight housings? Buell offered a replacement program. That should hold you over until you can afford HID's.
The replacements are much better than if you have the degraded originals.
They will not cost you anything other than a trip to the dealer. A dealer has to perform the work.
The replacement program that is/was good until July 2 2010, so you have to hurry.
I do not know if it is still applicable since the demise of Buell.
Here is a link to the notice.

you can pull out the 'spoon' from your low beam. it will unblock the top half of the parabolicly projected light. essentially it is the only difference between the hi/lo beam assemblies.

a DDM HID kit is not that pricey, but you'd want to toss this 'spoon' in the trash anyways.

You have to pull off the fairing to remove the headlights.
If you read the link I posted, it has the instructions you need to remove the headlights.
Once you remove the low beam assembly, a couple of screws hold the lens in place. When you remove the lens, you will see the "spoon".
A small phillips screw holds the "spoon" in place. Remove the screw and the "spoon" can be removed.
When you open up the housing, look to see if the reflective material is still good, if not, removing the "spoon" will not really help much.
See if you qualify for the replacement headlights, they are free.
