So I got the ECM spy cable, and I went ahead and backed up my EEPROM and fuel maps that were on there. Then I flashed the race fuel maps on there, without the entire race EEPROM included. Only the fuel maps. I did the TPS reset before all this too. Now there is MORE decel popping, as well as some popping between 3000 to 3500 RPM just cruising. Should I go back to the stock fuel maps, or is there something I'm missing? Thanks in advance.

2004 XB12S 18k miles, jardine exhaust, KN filter.

The increase in popping is from the added fuel from the race maps. In the lower 2 or 3 rows between 2k to 4k rpms, try dropping the each cell 2 points at a time until you are happy with it.

There are a couple threads about this floating around on here so don't be afraid to use the search.

NOT...necessarilly so...

Popping can also be caused by a lean condition, and normally is.

The rich condition isn't so much of a "pop" as a very light, smooth pop or "gurgle" if you will.

Both my 04R and my 05S (both 12's) needed additional fuel in those lower rpm areas that is mentioned go get rid of the lean popping.
Leaky exhaust will cause the same thing.

both ways work to get popping gone.

lean it out and rich it up.
rich gives more engine breaking. IMO

one uses more fuel which can be used for going not stopping. no load on decel so a very lean burn wont kill the engine like you my wonder. but as they both stated both ways work 100%

+1 on the leaky exhaust. I got decel popping when I installed my factory race kit. The problem was solved when I dropped the can and carefully reinstalled it with particular attention to the seal at the header. I used some copper sealant as well. Did the trick. Just a little air getting sucked into the can can cause the popping.
