So over the weekend I HAD to go for a ride despite the on-off-on sucky weather. So I head out to one of my "regular" twisty roads for a bit of fun. This bad boy is Twisty, true 15 mph turns. So I'm going along really cautions because the last week I rode it there was a smidge of gravel. Three turns into the road, there's no gravel where it was before, so I pick up the pace a but for a bit more fun. Of course the fourth corner has gravel on it, "Hmmm, okay just ride it out" I think to myself, "just like last time"... Yea, it didn't happen "just like last time" both tyres slid and she layed down on me. :'( I was going between 20-25 when I went down. Well the frame puck didn't do diddly, just popped off and now I've got a big dent in the frame right where the puck used to be. Also bent the bars, the RS peg bracket, rash on passenger peg, cracked the rider peg, rash on the brake pedal, broke the outer lens on the front turn signal, rash on the handguard, rash on flyscreen and windshield, broken mirror, the right-side scoop has a cracked mount and rash, the front master cylinder might be tweaked. Some details on the damage: All damage is on the right side of bike. The peg bracket got pushed into the swingarm brace, only reason I know is the paint is marked on the swingarm and chipped on back-side of bracket. Peg bracket also got friendly with the idler pulley, idler pulley appears to be straight, and is still centered with the belt. Surprisingly neither the fork or swingarm have any road rash, the swingarm has what appears to be a rock chip in the paint that may or may not have been there before. I'm thinking all I NEED are: Bars, mirror, right peg bracket, right rider peg, right front turn signal. My question is: What should I be worried about being damaged that I can't see? Can I try to use a slide hammer to pull out the dent in the frame, or will it likely crack? I rode the bike home because I didn't have cell service and couldn't get a pick-me-up and didn't notice anything strange or weird about the handling other than the bent bars and droopy right peg. Hell, just replace what you have to and ride. These bikes are tough. Just call it battle damage. | ||

Don't replace a thing. I crashed my Blast 6 times this year, so far have been able to bend everything partly back so its useable except the mirrors, I used some spare old ones  | ||

The peg needs replacing, the upper "loop" that the peg pin goes through is cracked and the peg sags. The peg bracket makes the master cylinder linkage rub on the belt guard. So you guys don't think I need to worry about a bent frame? I'm trying to decide if I want to spend the $$$$ to make her new again or leave the scars as a lesson/reminder to myself. :/ | ||

If it was mine I would put a frame puck back on. If you have to fill in the dent, find out what to use from the guys on here. Don't try to pull out the dent. Replace pegs and the misc. parts. Go do a track day with it. | ||

I'd just slap a new puck over the dent. Speaking of which, the Uly pucks were obsolete for a bit. Are they available again? | ||

I've EM'd a couple dealers and all parts including the frame are available (according to them). The dent doesn't get completely covered by the frame puck.  Honestly I'd be worried about the puck falling off with how little it would have to stick to in it's original location. | ||

If you want to fillthe dent I suggest Devcon aluminum putty. I used it on the wifes bike and it is awesome. Takes a little bit of time to get is formed to the original contour but well worth it in my opinion. You cannot even tell the frame was dented now. Jimmy | ||

I had similar concerns after I wrecked my bike...but I put it up on some stands and just looked / measured it from a number of different angles and everything on the frame looked straight as far as the mounting points were concerned. Fixed it, had the alignment professionally checked and it has been fine the last 15,000 miles since. I also had a dent about the same as yours...just primed and painted it and got carbon fiber covers since I was going all black anyways...  | ||

I think your biggest concern should be the decreased fuel capacity now  If I were you, I would sand out the rashed zone. Prep the dent and then fill it. After you fill it, go buy some of the touchup paint from HD paint over the rashed area and then slap on a new frame puck. Sure, obviously it looks bad, but Ive seen worse dents get repaired. If it bothers you that much call up the insurance adjuster and see what they say. I can tell you with almost certainty that it will be around 3000 in damages, mainly all due to labor. IIRC a dealership is allowed to charge 16 hours for a frame swap. | ||

I wouldn't try to pop it out- aluminum develops microfractures when bent beyond it's yeild point. Be more worried about the interior coating- it probably didn't flex with the metal. What's gas gonna do to bare aluminum frame? I dunno, but my MSR fuel bottles have corrosion on the inside! Might want to go with one of those chopper gastank coating kits. Then just put a puck over it! | ||

It's also a cast aluminum structure, not going to come out nicely and will probably break into small pieces. If you really wanted to get into it, it might be able to cut that spot out, hammer up a replacement panel, and weld it in. Might work, might not, might completely wreck the frame. | ||

I thought the tank was plastic coated inside. |
