Does any one have any problem with the neutral light not coming on when in neutral.

Sometimes when shifting from 1st to 2nd it will not completely go into 2nd. I will release the clutch and I will be in neutral. But I look for the neutral light being on, but there is no light. But whenever I start the bike or shift it to neutral, it is on.

HI, Maverick is there any thing you did to fix it.

Possible primary chain adjustment or maybe use Mobil-1 synthetic 20W-50. Also, being "easy" on the gearbox tends to accentuate their inherent problems (on all bikes, not just Buells).

Yes, that is pretty common on any bike. The MSF class teaches to never trust the neutral light. Sometimes when it is on, you may not really be in neutral.

Thank you guys for your feed back. but If it such a common problem why did the dealer have it for 3 weeks to try to fix it or are they just trying to milk me. p.s. I'm not being sarcastic. just want my XB to run like it should. and if this is how it runs then that is just something I guess I will have to live with. Thanks Again, Steve

No false neutrals here, nor have I ever had it be in gear when it reported neutral. The Blast on the other hand...I'm convinced that thing needs to be opened up and have everything tightened down.

I had this issue before I switched to Mobil 1 75-90 gear oil in tranny. Never had it again.

Great stuff!

two suggestions . . .. . adjust the primary chain to spec, adjust the shift linkage so the pedal is just a little lower (sounds like you're not lifting it quite high enough to fully engage 2nd), and do NOT shift like your range instructor told you to pull the trigger . .. . . move the lever firmly, and with, ehem, vigor

ok, that's three things

it certainly could have an effect if you didn't adjust the shift linkage . . . ..

I have tough time putting in neutral when the bike is at a stop, but no problem when the bike is moving (crawling to a stop). And yes, my bike can be in neutral without the light coming on - in that case, I just tap the shifter up or down, and the light comes on.

How many miles are on the bike? I think these HD transmissions tend to take about 1000mi to work themselves in decently. Also, put Mobil-1 Synth in it ASAP. That generally helps the feel of the transmission quite a bit.
