Blake,

I know you live day and night for the argument, but I will not enter into debate over this subject.

Take what I posted, and do whatever you like with it. I really don't care.

Thank you for reminding me that bringing valid, factual information to this or any other motorcycle related board is a waste of my time. I learn from my mistakes.

Sorry to have bothered you.

Anony,

You and Blake are both right. I just put a new belt on my X1 and since I run it loose, it slips a tooth when I really nail it. It's been a few weeks now and it doesn't do it anymore.

Blake, and this thread, are referring to the XB belt, which as Blake said, wouldn't slip if it was dunked in motor oil.

Don't go away man.

Anonymous,

I 2nd what Hoot said, don't go away. Debate is good in seeking truth. Indignant obstinateness is bad.

What's wrong? You been assigned to personally fix Dyna's X1? joker

KNOCK ON WOOD! KNOCK ON WOOD! KNOCK ON WOOD!

I've got 50,000 miles on my original belt! I adjusted it to be very loose "at the beginning"... and other than looking at it, haven't had to touch it. I must be one lucky SOB... also have my original clutch. One thing which isn't original, is the power. It's been "upped" considerably. And my bike isn't babied. To repeat... KNOCK ON WOOD! (Oh please, Lord... don't smite me down for this arrogant boasting!!!)

Steve

P.S. I guess I haven't been following "belt threads" very closely... has something changed with the way they're made, or used, that necessitates frequent replacement?

Is there a break-in disclaimer sheet that comes with new belts?
Not arguing, just curious since I haven't had to buy a new belt yet.

Mikej - nope there isn't. No disclaimer. Though the dealer did "warn" me about it.

Anony...

If you are ever in Kansas City... I will buy you a beer... I was (and always am) pleased to see your information... there is often more information than what is apparent or what might seem to make sense to someone who does not know the inside info inside the industry. On the surface, from the outside, it might to some seem wrong or illogical... but that does not make it wrong... just not common knowledge.

(I have a security clearance... I'll never reveal your true identity...) and this is true for all industry anony posters. The info is priceless... and I love to learn... and the badweb is a great resource... thanks to everyone and the anony posters for info like this!

THANKS!!!

Das, I just had this vision of us having a 'work' related discussion. We'd have to SCIF it and then deny that either of us ever met the other, let alone talked about anything.. LOL.. sorry.. It's just one of those things.. So, if you bring Anony, with you, I'll help keep their identity secret and between the two of us, they were never there, as a matter of fact, they may not even exist.. hehehehe..
