So I was going to hit a local track day during my brief break between classes, when I find out that it's already booked. I live in Lubbock, TX and every road within two hours is straight as a drag strip and as boring as golf. Needless to say I was looking forward to some curves on the track.

So anyway... sometime between April 30-May 4th I'll be heading to the TX Hill Country (Austin, San Antonio, etc) for some good ridin' roads. Anyone else gonna be around there, you can show me where the good curves are.

I don't think I will be around during those days.

Some of the best road are fm336 and fm337 near Leakey, Texas. In the hill country with more curves than you could ever imagine.

Its been a while since I have been in Lubbock, but I remember a park called Buddy Holly Park, that we used to go burning through. Not very much road, but fun.

If you are going to be in the Austin area there are a few roads.
You can take 1431 out of Cedar park (or right off I35) and go to Marble falls. Once you get past Cedar park is actually a nice ride.

If you are in south austin you can take Mopac until turns into 1826. Take 1826 South until you hit 150. Here you can go left or right, both roads are good. They will both put you in Wimberly eventually, if not Dripping Springs then on back up to Austin.

But if your taking a road trip just to get some curvy roads in, then yeah, probably the whole Leakey /Bandera would be best. I remember while back we were in Hunt Tx, outside of kerrville and it was really pretty along the river.

From what I hear its going to be raining this weekend, at least on Saturday. Im working Sunday or Id say lets go hit a few twisties.

Hey ya fellers...this thread should really be somewhere else other than buried under the XB arena. Not that I don't like the XBs...I just don't pay much attention to this area of BadWeb (limited surfing time)

I'm over in Bossier City LA, but love riding the Hill Country and Austin in particular.

CaptainPlanet...336 and 337 rock! There is a road out that way called the Devils Backbone? Is it 37?

AustinRider...excellent suggestions : ) I liked the ride out to The Oasis too.

Yeah, there are some ok parks, but the speed limit is 15 and the LPD pulled me over for going 22 in a 20 once, so I don't want to mess with it. Plus there's gravel over the whole city. I think they ship it in when I'm not looking. I hate Lubbock!!! At least it's dry.

Ditto on hating Lubbock. I spent two years there, left, and never looked back.
