Hey guys-

I just finished swapping some front end parts (full suspension (forks, triples), bars, etc). It's almost back together now, but the throttle sticks.

It's all stock parts, so there's no "length" issue. I think maybe they are routed wrong? do they go like the pic below, or in front of the rebound adjuster?

It's an '03 XB9S

Looks the same as my '06 12. Might take a look at the left side of the bike where they go under the frame just above the left side scoop. Also, double check to make sure they aren't bound up in the switch box. That's where I always get in trouble when I lube them.

Ok thanks. I did not remove the headlight housings, so the routing hasn't really changed. And they feel loose everywhere! I'll run through it all again.

can you take another picture from the front?

also try taking the module apart and pulling the cables by hand. if there is a bind anywhere down the line you may be able to see it. the tube will move a little except where it is binding.

question! randomly some times when i gun it once in a while. my thorrtle starts to like fell like its not as snappy like when i blip it some times it almost has a lag kinda of thing, but this almost happens everytime after i gun it. dose this mean that my cable is lose or something??

I would either attribute that to the ECM or the air box charge combined with the interrupted velocity of air moving through the throttle body.

there are probably another dozen factors that it could be based on fluid dynamics, rotational inertia, poor fuel mapping...

try data logging for a while but maybe your map is off when you decelerate/engine brake

I would check the barrel adjusters as well. I had a problem with my throttle sticking when I went to the crossroads a couple of weeks back but that was a length issue. I did notice however in my messing around that adjusting the barrels too far one way can also cause a bind. Just a thought.

Migs16, umm more simply, I think that's just the throttle response you get out of a 2 cylinder engine. Consider that on a 4(+) cylinder engine at least one cylinder is always going through the power stroke, not so on a 2 cylinder so its just not as responsive especially at lower rpms close to idle.
