whats with all the epoxy on the engine case covers, frame welding etc.

one note if your using fiberglass resin or bondo on the buells plastic abs or other plastic panels it will not stick in the long run and you are going to probably develop alot of cracks and separation of the bond between the plastic and the resin or bondo

From the looks of the pictures the cowl is not going to be molded in and that part of the frame of the XBS is metal.

Love the wheels!

What I meant was that the epoxy or resin or even the bondo, won't stick to any ABS plastic, it needs to be heat or plastic welded.

Hope it works for you, every time I tried any of the industrial or 3m automotive fillers or epoxy bonders they never really held up and would eventually fall off or break. The only thing I found them any good for was to fill in imperfections in ABS or flexible plastic panels

I'm swap'n all body panels with glass
and yes the epoxy on the engine case covers is a little risky but I heat tested it all and it holds very well even over 250 degrees + many others have painted there primary covers and if the paint hold up the epoxy should

should work then , looks good so far.

Are you hopping up the motor? if so what mods.

Were there alot defects on the frame you had to weld in, thats what the little spot welds look like you did.

One other thing I thought I would tell you about welding aluminum frames and other alloy components. A new certified professional welder told us that when you weld alot of the new alloy frames and engine casting, it turns out that the frame or engine part must be heated to a high temperature while it is welded to prevent warping or structural damage.

I never heard of this until recently and I was suprized about what he told me, but alot of things are changing very quickly with all the manufacturing changes.

That's bad-ass but, are you sure you don't want to give one of the "Master Builders" a blank check instead ? That way they could build you a bike that was cookie cutter custom so you know it would be great. I guess if you're comfortable winging-it yourself with no professional coaching you know what you're doing. I just hope that all the cool guys and other people you could care less about think it's cool. If they don't all your time energy and money will be wasted.

Huh?
The guy's building a bad-ass custom Buell and you suggest a cookie-cutter custom?
The man's make a 7-course gourmet diner and you suggest he goes and gets a shortstake at Denny's???

Holy smokes. OK for all of you who didn't get it (I thought it was obvious). I think this guy rules ! Cutting up and effing with a perfectly good bike to make it "YOURS" is bad-ass. Cookie cutters suck !

Terry,

This is by far some of the best design work ive seen that is ACTUALLY being implemented! Congrats man, really impressive stuff and a sharp looking concept. I cant wait to see it complete, i would be willing to make a trip out to see this in person! Let me know if you need any music done for your demo reel once this is ready to showcase ; )

BEAUTIFUL! Take one Buell, and one true Buell enthusiast, Mix in some raw design talent and VIOLA!!

You have an incredible, one off, custom BUELL. Not a chopper, bobber, or rigid. A true BUELL, with the integrity of a BUELL.

Congrats for building what is in my opinion the sickest bike I've ever seen.

Body filler and the like will stick just fine to the XB body work. If the surface is prepped and sanded it will hold. This is 3D work that I had a hand in doing on this SV1000. The body filler is used in all of it.

For me, that is one ugly SV. But the artwork and the detail and craftsmanship is top notch!
Well done.
