Its suprizing that the xb12's and xb9's wouldn't be alot quicker than what ppl are posting. I had a old 1988 grsxr750 that was good for a indicated 150 mph any day and that bike only put out about 86 bhp and was about 400lbs. wet.

You would think that with the weight and hp of the latest xb12r that it should easily get into the 140-150 mph range. But from what I've read it seems like 130-133mph is tops for the xb12r

Your indicated 150 was probably closer to 130-135 given the horrible accuracy of speedometers on Japanese sportbikes.

Also, there is more to the equation including power band and gearing.

One more thing, the stock XB12 has a top speed of a real (not indicated) 142.7mph (08+ models) banging off the rev limiter. But you can't be a fat ass and still hit the limiter.

the gsxr was tested by cycle world in at about a 144mph in 1987 verified speed

The XB12 motor bangs the rev limiter at 6,800....the old 750 gixxer could easily turn 11,000+ a modified one could go 13,000+....My XB12s gets to the rev limit fairly quickly in high gear...I think it could go faster with an overdrive 6th gear......but who needs that on the street.
It goes fast enough in 4th gear to get you arrested and the bike confiscated in Florida...

I can attest to the fat ass theory. My xb12ss got 137 indicated flat out in a down hill angle. Froggy if would let him have it with my photo, and that gentlemen as they say is that.

I do wish that we had a 6th gear even if it were only to drop the revs on the highway, its noisy with an aftermarket exhaust.

3k would be ideal at 70MPH IMO

I think I am right around 4 on my 9 but I haven't payed much attention to be honest. I just know that the D&D is very loud.
