Sigh, was trying to reinstall my intake after getting my new James Intake gaskets and the rear intake bolt hole (the one for the sprocket bolt) stripped out. Sigh.

So, question. I'm planning on removing the frame to get access to it to fix the hole. Is it possible to do this without removing the head?

If it's not too bad off, you may be able to just chase the threads with a tap of the same size.
Good luck.
Man I know that sucks!

Would do that, but the threads are gone in the start of the hole. So, gotta helicoil it.

use jb weld it will work to like magic, to replace the stripped treads. Follow these steps to the letter. Get a pack of jb weld and a new bolt or a longer one the same thread size that you can sacrafice. get some spray brake cleaner or acetone and completely clean out the stripped hole.

put oil or spray PAM cooking spray (release compound) on to the bolt, mix up epoxy one to one and put as much as you can in the stripped hole and on to the bolt, thread the bolt into the damaged hole.
Clean any excess epoxy from the outside surface let it dry for 24hrs. then remove bolt and replace with a new replacement bolt and you should be good to go.

This will work on any stripped thread in a steel, alloy or iron casting or billet mount etc.

Try it for $5 it can't hrt and if it works then the repair is permanent. Note do not over tighten the bolt as you can easily damage it.

There is also expoxy called devcon or locktite plastic steel that is better than JB weld but it is alot more expensive.

MC Master Carr also sells repair kit for stripped press in fasteners in alloy frames. MC Master carr is a engineers source for building everything.

K&L supply also sells a repair kit.

E-Z Lok and Timeserts are alternatives to Helicoil. The E-Z Lok are nice because they use standard taps.
