So i got a jardine exhaust and put it on my bike. Sounded good and even ran OK for about five miles. Then it started running like a lawnmower, running on one cylinder. Obviously the plugs fouled out. So my bike is running super rich. I dont have an airbox delete, but i have ecmspy. I just got ecmspy in the mail and i have never used it. I will figure it out, but it looks kinda confusing. Do any of you guys have a map for my setup. Or can you tell me what my AFV should be set at, or what ANYTHING else should be set at for that matter!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated. I mean it should be an easy fix, right? I put a new exhaust on my bike, and it completly destoyed it!? I mean, come on.

So my bike is running super rich.
Very doubtful.
Adding a free flowing exhaust would make it run lean if anything.
Were you blipping the throttle listening to your new sounding bike?
If so, that's why you fouled a plug.
I mean it should be an easy fix, right?
Simple, yes, not necessarily easy.

read that tuning guide about 5 times before you even attempt to do anything.
And take your bike out, and ride it around 3000 - 3500 RPM's for about 5 to 10 miles to let the ECM adjust for your exhaust.

THEN, take it home, and hook up ECMspy and reset your TPS, and set your AFV following the instructions in that tuning guide.

Then take it out, and see what you think.
You will still have some decelleration popping, it will take some tinkering with the maps to get ride of that.

OH! and don't forget to repack that exhaust every 10,000 miles or sooner, or you'll be crying like all the other folks out there that neglected their Jardines...

I would love to take my bike out and ride it five to ten miles, but i cant even get the bike up to twenty five miles an hour. And if the bike isnt running rich, why can you smell gas from ten feet away. Thanks, i guess

Ok here is how it works and more than likely what happened. Not too sure what year we are talking about, but if it's an 07 or older then ECM Spy can fix it, but you might need to find a Dyno.

At some point while it was in "Closed Loop Learn" the 02 sensor saw a lean condition and added fuel. when it did that it drove the AFV up to compensate for the lean condition. The problem with that is that it is a global fuel change making it rich everywhere.

I suggest you change or clean the plugs reset the AFV back to 100% and carefully ride it at a specific gear and rpm watching what it does to the AFV.

CLL lives from about 1800 - 4000 RPM and ranges from 14% to 30% TP. An AFV between 95-105 is OK. Just remember a rich condition driving the AFV below 95, say down to around 85 can cause a lean miss fire on the front cylinder.

Why are you smelling gas, well lets see. If 1 of your plugs are fouled (this explains the lawnmower sound and not getting over 25 miles an hour) then you are dumping fuel into a cylinder and the plug is not igniting it like it is supposed to do.

To figure out which one it is start the bike for about 20 seconds and feel which header is not hot.

Change the plug that is fouled let the bike warm up ride the snot out of it study up on ecmspy and tune the bike for the pipe.

Next when you come on here and ask for help and somebody offers some info don't be a smart ass. Glitch told you it was running lean and you came back with a smart ass comment (And if the bike isnt running rich, why can you smell gas from ten feet away. Thanks, i guess). Learn what you are talking about before you try to be an ASS.

You have an 08? Go to your bike, turn the key on. Make sure your kill switch is in the off position. Open the throttle all of the way and hold it and then turn on the kill switch. DO NOT HIT THE STARTER.

When your engine light starts to flash, let go of the throttle. Turn the key off, and then carry on starting your bike as normal.

This will cause your sparkplugs to fire and burn off any soot or fuel on them. It's a built in feature on the 08+ bikes. Try it, I am 95% sure your bike will start and run normally after.

oh yea, tmall I tried that, unfortunatly it didnt help. Thanks for the post though. I am just gonna have to tinker with ecmspy, i have gotten some great info from a couple of guys on this site and a couple other sites, not to mention the tuning guide!!! Thanks again everyone, even you bishop!!!!
