Also had a chance to finally start it up for the first time since doing the computer, intake, and exhaust mods. While I have never heard any exhaust on an XB other than the stock factory one I have a REAL hard time thinking that there is any muffler option out there other than the DRUMMER that can sound so incredibly awesome.....
It's one thing to hear everyone rave about the DRUMMER and quite another to experience it. Now all I gotta do is get that farging TPS reset.........

Funny how I thought it was lookin' really good last week, but now it sure looks like it's lacking some high quality rearsets! (...and a Drummer ID plate).

Of course I saw your black 9R conversion XB9Rski! Looks fan-freaking-tastic, although black rims would really set it off....

Rims were done at www.classiccoatings.com in Wisconsin. They do the powdercoat on the stock rims for Buell so they have LOTS of experience with Buell rims. Cost was $75 per wheel and turnaround time was exactly one week.

Something about the license plate bracket looks slightly different from stock.
Did you modify it somehow or am I seeing things?

Mike.

The Link works fine for me.

Yes, those side reflectors and the lower rear one have been removed, but it still looks like the license plate is farther forward than normal. I took those off as soon as I got my bike. Just curious, because the relocators I've seen are expensive and I want to change the location of mine without spending too much.

My man Bubba was the supplier for the red bodywork.

Yeah, I pulled the reflectors off if for no other reason than the MAJOR weight savings

I did not mod the license plate mount at all so it's in the stock location as far as I know. Maybe putting the small turn signals on has created the illusion that the plate is farther forward?

I pulled the rear reflectors off my XB9S and let only the top 2 screws hold on the license plate.
I now notice that the plate has vibrated and cracked about 1 inch on each side of the mounting holes. The crack just keeps growing so
I will be drilling a new hole in the plate and fastening the bottom so it doesn't vibrate.
Never seen that before.

I guess the picture played tricks on my eyes.

OK, I did what Dbird29 did to mine but I raised the plate up on the bracket a little. I drilled two holes in the plate on each end, about halfway down. This allowed me to shove the plate all the way up where it almost touches the undertail plastic. No cracking on mine since there is no vibration the way it's mounted.

Very nice..... what color powder coat are your wheels. Thinking of doing mine gloss black but taping off the polished strip on the outside of the rim.

Yeah,

Deciding on what color black to do the wheels was a much bigger undertaking than I ever imagined it would be. If you look at the color chips on the Classic Coatings website there are about 15 different variations of black that are pictured, but on my computer monitor they all look like exactly the same color.....black. I ended up speaking to Mary Ann at Classic and we discussed the color differences by using the gloss factor of each different black. I then went and looked at various pictures of bikes with black wheels, like some race bikes have, and decided that I didn't want a high gloss as it is just too shiny and reflective for my taste. I ended up going with Starling black which is a medium gloss black and am very happy with it. Not too shiny, not too dull............

I like the conversion to red. Wheels look cool. I have been thinking about doing my wheels just for the sake of easier cleaning but have not been able to decide what color. I think white on white is a little too much, and chrome plating might not live up to NY weather.

I will have to check out the samples on their site.

rokonneer: One more mod you gotta try is belt guard removal. Or at least replace those with the '04 guards!

Mike, I gotta agree that the belt guards are not visually the most complimentary things to my bike, or any XB for that matter, and I have considered removing the guards, but I spend the majority of my time riding back roads and not city streets, and here in upstate NY most of the back roads have pretty 'loose' edges on them that consists of pea gravel and small stones. Inevitably some of that loose stuff ends up on the actual road surface. That being the case I decided to keep the guards on for now and if and when the belt goes I very well may upgrade to the '04 setup, or perhaps do a chain conversion.
