I was wondering what is the difference between a XB12SCG sold in CA vs. other states. I know it has to do with emissions
but what exactly is the difference and how does it affect the performance, ect. How can a CA bike be made into a bike for other states? How much would it cost to change over. I live in NV and I'm am looking at a 2009 bike for sale that was originally sold in CA. I thought I read somewhere they never run right if you change them from a CA bike. It is worth the effort to change it over?

thanks

the emissions canister is the main thing (on top of the tranny case) but other things may have been done that would most likely reduce performance, ECM and the like.

not my bike

I would just find a non CA bike the CG's can be harder to find when you are looking for them but you can always swap the suspension after the fact if you get a taller bike first.

She needs a shorter bike. I remember Chigirl looking a few months back for one.

Chigirl, no good deals on the 4 listed in IL?

Another 2010 in Mississippi if your only looking for 2010's. It's a cherry bomb like most of the others (09) available.

And the one I mistakenly thought you were originally referring too. Didn't pay attention to you looking at a used one.

post a want add for a used Cg on here I found mine in about a week. or if you are already willing to go as far as cali for a Cg buy a bike at a good deal local to you that's taller and come to Michigan I am still looking for somebody to trade my low for a 43mm standard height.

I thought I would need a low bike, but after riding it I found that I have enough time in the dirt (where I needed milk crates just to touch 1 foot down) that I don't want/need both feet flat on the ground at lights.

Over the past few months, I have gotten increasingly frustrated with the HD dealers who I have contacted who seem to
either are asking too much for the bike itself or insist on charging outrageous misc. fees.

I actually live in Henderson NV but my father lives in Illinois , so I was using both as possible places to buy the bike.

The bike I am looking at now was bought by a man for his wife w/o asking and she doesn't want it and it is a 2009 with
11 miles on it but it has CA emissions and it has 20 months of warranty on it. Does the cannister cause any problems or performance issues? Does it decrease the value of the bike? What would you guys say is a fair price?

There are no performance decreases, and no change in value. If you want to remove the canister, it can be done simply- search BadWeb and you'll find info.

As far as a fair price....you have not listened to the community yet, and consequently you've missed out on some fantastic deals. Why keep asking?

McHenry HD has the lowest prices I have seen yet. Try calling them.

No and No.

Think of it this way; you will be more green with a canister equipped bike than without one.

There are others on the greater BadWeb board that actually installed a canister on their 49St bikes, to eliminate fuel smell in the garage, etc...
