what is the average life span of a rear tire.MY 09 XB12 needs a new one after only about 3000 miles.Any suggestions on a replacement with a little more life would be appreciated | ||

what tire did it have? and tires are a wear item.ride a lot and you will be buying tires! i had metzler m3 go 6 thousand miles then a conti road attack go 6-7 thousand. currently have a pirelli diabolo .seems like a great tire. | ||

Perrelli diablo are what came on it new.while i never smoked the tire i did regularly accelarate excessivly from a dead stop which i'm sure is not condusive to longevity.But still,3000 miles and i've got steel cords showing. | ||

I could probably squeek 6k out of my Metzler M3's as well but going to swap them out. I have been happy with these but I am thinking Pilot Road II's....but still unsure and it isn't time yet....but that time is nearing. Sorry for the buts... | ||

Tire pressure? What do they make the roads out of where you ride? Lots of factors. My last tire went 3500 or so. I went to a different tire. | ||

You might think about trying Michelin Pilot Road 2's. They have gotten rave reviews. http://www.webbikeworld.com/Motorcycle-tires/miche lin-pilot-road-2/ Although officially a sport touring tire, many badwebbers have found them to be great on the street, and they have even been used for track days. I have about a thousand miles on mine, and The still have more tread than a brand new sport tire. The handling is great, and they are good in the wet. The only thing is that they need a couple hundred miles to break in, and since they are a bit bigger in diameter, you might want to adjust your suspension a bit, if you are into that. I expect to get at least 6000 miles on them, and my bike has never handled better. The trick is that these are dual compound tires, soft on the sides for grip, harder in the center for wear, with a sport tire profile. There is no average lifespan, too many factors at play. Tire pressure, tire type, how much you weigh, how you ride, road conditions, weather and other factors make it vary. I got 15k miles on a Pirelli Scorpion Sync with my XB, and 7000 miles on a Pirelli Corsa III on my 1125CR. Those same tires on the same bikes with other riders have gotten only about a thousand miles. | ||

I got around 3200mi. on the rear with pirelli diablo's. Switched to avon av59/front av60/rear, almost at 7500mi. on this rear tire. No big complaints about the avon's yet. | ||

My stock Pirelli rear tire only lasted my 5000. I now have a Metzler rear tire and it has about 5000 on it and will probably need to be changed shortly. I was looking at Shinko's, I can find some pretty good deals on tire sets but I still dont know of anyone who has used them. Would like to know if anyone out there has tried them at all? | ||

Pirelli Diablo Strada's or Michelin Pilot Road 2's will both net you more mileage with out any noticeable downsides. | ||

man I thought I was either going crazy or that it had just been to long since I had round tires (pilot roads flat spot hard in Michigan) thanks for that bit of info gentlemen jon it will make tuning my suspension a lot simpler. only 300-400 miles on my road 2's and I agree they take a bit of breaking in. kinda stiff and they make a funny rumble when slowing to a stop, I am sure it will go away once the rubber softens a bit. | ||

Very happy with the Diablo Stradas... I'm coming up on 3500 mi and the rear isn't squared off like the stock Diablo T's were at that mileage. I only got 4300 mi out of the stock tires before the steel cords were showing. |
