So I just ordered the traction grips for my XB I figure it should be easy but is there anything I should know? Is there anyway to do it without destroying my current grips? Thanks in advance. |

My "trick" is to use spray laquer ( works as lube and glue when it dries) and some zip ties up under the grip going on. I don't think theres a way to remove old ones without ruining them though. |

The throttle grip will come off in one piece but the left hand grip will need to be cut off. The grips come with the glue and applicator. I installed the traction grips on my XB few months back. |

i stick a small flat head screwdriver between the grip and bar as far as i can and then squirt some wd 40 in. work the screwdriver around and use more wd. always works for me. only had to cut one grip off and it was on a suzuki. |

Depending on how much glue came from the factory, a strap wrench works to twist the grip and break the hold of the glue without damaging the grip. Usually Buell grips are on with so much glue that it is impossible to remove the left one without cutting it. |

once you put the tractions on, you won't even think about putting the flat ones on again. cut away. |

Drkside, Where did you order from? I can't seem to find anybody to order them through. Thanks, George |

no but you will have to cut holes on the end of the grips to put them back on. |

Another reason not to like traction grips. You need to cut them up to make them actually usable, including cutting off that large lump in the middle. |

OK, some much for 7 years of Buell accessories available from H-D Anyone found or used a comparable barrel style grip? Looks like we will have to re-use the throttle tube... |

7 years for parts. Not 7 years for accessories. If it is a part that came standard on a particular model it will be around for 7 years. You can still get the frame pucks because they came standard on several models and years. The traction grips and foot pegs did not so there for they are not made any longer. |

Generally I use compressed air to install these grips. Come off easy with a shot of compressed air injected between the bar and grip too. Float on, float off CB (Accidental annony post by Cbig) (Message edited by froggy on March 08, 2010) |

I like the compressed air snort. It puffs them up a bit to break the stick-um loose. Maybe a little thin screwdriver use too! Make sure you glue the new one on as it's a REAL THRILL when that left grip comes off accelerating. |
