I have an 06 xb9. I've heard that you can put an xb12 header on the 9's in order to squeeze out a little more power. Will an 04 xb12 header fit my 06 xb9?

yep. me and a friend put a 9S header on his 12R. no dyno runs, but with the his D&D its got longer legs. other than that it FEELS faster in the lower RPM range.

Yes but you may loose power due to decreased back pressure.

so a 9 header on a 12 helps a 12 but a 12 header on a 9 can hurt performance?

isn't it the same thing with the pistons too?

Wait, now I'm curious? I could get more performance putting a xb9 pipe on my xb12scg?

Cuz my header is currently dinged, so I was looking for a 12 replacement.

what ever you do, you should map it correctly to get the maximum gain/minimal loss. we did nothing of the sort.
the increased back pressure from a smaller diameter header could be negated by the free-flowing D&D, but i'm no rocket surgeon.
i don't know enough about fuel maps to get into a debate about it, so i'll leave that to the internet experts.
if in doubt, just run it stock.
