Getting ready to change the oil/filter, and when I warmed up the engine, I found a leak coming from the pressure switch. It looks like an easy fix, but I'm good a breaking things and then paying twice as much to fix it, so I thought I would ask ... I did a search and from other posts on here, it looks like I just unscrew it and watch not to cross-thread the new one ... but it doesn't mention if the sensor wire just pulls out or not ... does it? Is there anything else to watch out for? Do I need to drain the oil or drop the filter before doing it? How tight (1/2 turn less than when I crack it?) I'd like to do it without draining the old oil, that way I can check it after the fix before changing the oil/filter. With my luck, I'd drain it, break it, fill it, see it leak again, drain it again, fix it again, fill it again, etc ... Thanks in advance for any tips ... |

The lead pops right off. Don't crossthread it, use a bit of pipe sealant, snug is good. It's above the filter, so it may be OK trying it without removing the filter - keep a drain pan handy |
