It's almost spring and I need to gather supplies to get my 03 9R back on the road, just bought it last October. I flipped through the service manual but didn't find the info I was looking for, I plan to switch the entire machine to Mobile 1 V-Twin oil. I know I need about 2.5 quarts for the engine oil, but how much more do I need for the transmission and primary? Transmission says to fill to the bottom of the clutch spring as viewed through the cover which doesn't help me at all when I go to the store to buy the oil.

I looked through the knowledge base but the info still eludes me.

Oil is common to the transmission and the primary area? I know there is a drain for the transmission but there was nothing noted to drain the primary area so I assume it is the same.

For something that should have been simple to get an oil filter, cost me around $200 for the order, only $130 worth of right scoop, pucks, and the seat retention kit being "optional". Still need to go out and buy oil and DOT4 break fluid so another $50.

It should take about 28 ozs to get to bottom of clutch basket.
