I woke up this morning with the thought of possibly entertaining the idea of trying to trade my 03 XB9R for a S1, m2, or XI.

Give me the pros and cons of this idea. I have never ridden any of them.

50 LBS difference in weight.

handles different

Harder to find parts for the tubers other than engine parts.

but the tubers are easier to work on, look cool(but so does the xb), and have a lot of character.

think of it like this

a xb is a samurai sword and a tuber is a chain saw. Both will cut some ones head off but one does it swiftly and precise and the other will do it brutal and sloppy.

Makes sense in a way.

I mean, you probably wouldn't find S1 with as many miles as you have on your nine!

I have always thought that the S1's are the real "bad boys" of the Buell family.

And no, I am not planning on trading Lil' Blackie in on a tuber any time soon.

Someday, when I am done enjoying them, I will offer my 1125 or one of my XBs for trade and will be looking for a S1, S1W, S2, S2T or Westwind. I like all my Buells but I like the tubers more. That is just me. Everyone likes something different, they are not better or worse.

The Tubers, 1125s and XBs are fine bikes. They are different from each other so all you really need to do is define your needs and wants. (with motorcycles it is mostly wants) Analogies are entertaining but worthless.

I do not have any problem getting parts for my tubers and my XBs have been turnkey trouble free rides.

The only thing, for me, that has a negative impact on the 1125 (and XB to a very small extent) ownership experience is the attitudes of the owners. I have never met anyone on a tuber I did not like.

Xbmacon, the tubers are easy to work on and with the S1 (I have had two) the only thing that I did not like doing was changing the rear isolators and/or belt. Everything else was so simple an idiot like me could work on it. Like I said above I have never had a problem with a XB (have owned three of them).

Whatever you decide to do you will get all your questions answer and a lot of support on the BadWeb.

thanks for the input guys. I'd really like to have both, but that isnt in the cards any time soon. That is why I was entertaining the idea.

Just make a test ride with a Tuber and see what you like best!!

As a former XB12R owner, traded my XB in for my wife's M2. It's rougher, slower and more unforgiven than the XB to ride, but i like the sensation and riding experience more from this old bike than the newer type's. And it's easier to customize to your own likings.

Anyway, good luck with your choise !!
