today had to be the scariest day on my bike. I was ridding to work on a road with 2 lanes for each direction.( clemson to I20 over the bridge by two notch, for those who know the area). i was in the left lane and there was a car in front of me and a cop in front of him all in the same lane. just after the bridge there is a road that you can turn right on and there was a motorcycle cop there with someone pulled over. once the cop in front of me got directly across from them he hit his lights on, braked hard and turned right to that street crossing both lanes. the car in front of me had to slam brakes on and slid sideways and i had to do the same. there was a car on my right and i had to cross the yellow line to not hit anyone while cars were coming the other way. i am glad that the car traveling the opposite direction was in his far right lane. I wanted to stop and confront that cop but i think for my level of anger i would have been restrained for being to loud with him. stuff like that just makes me mad. it is 45 mph on that road and thats what we were doing. he could of pulled over like a normal person and did a u turn to assist his fellow cop. | ||

I would have been arrested for verbal abuse of a peace officer! +1 Imagine being beside one and he almost side swips you because he's more concerned with the laptop on his dash than the road. He got an ear full from me when we got caught at the light. My mistake for being there, bigger mistake on his part for being a douche canoe. Cops can be dumb asses too... | ||

Talking to his next up in the chain of command is usually better than confronting him. We all make mistakes and some of us need help in learning from them. He may have been a rooky. I try not to talk to people when I'm angry. You need date, time, location, number of unit if possible. Talking to the motorcycle officer after you calmed down may have worked. | ||

I try to never drive anywhere near them. Last August I was passing one at the speed limit. He speeds up, gets in front of me (10 yards or so) and slows down very fast, not slamming them on or anything, but pretty darn quick. Faster than the 3/4 ton pickup is comfortable slowing down anyway. No lights or anything. He may have signaled, not sure. We were the only ones for at least a half mile in either direction. Woulda been just as easy to slow down and pull the u-turn behind me. Ticked me off. You really never know when they are gonna do something, and they are more likely to do something like that than other people are, so I try to give them room to do their job, but jeez, sometimes you can't win. I try to stay further away from them than I do tan Toyota Camrys! And that's saying somethin! | ||

i am sure it was a mistake thats why i kept going. i know he figured it out when he saw everything happen. but i will do as boogeyman says and stay away. they may get caught up in the moment and forget about their surroundings due to lack of experience | ||

had a cop pull out in front of a group of us riding one day near Macon, GA...talkin on the phone. he also got an ear full at the light. tha prick wouldnt even acknowledge us. he knew he screwed up. | ||
