Ok, looking to add the LED voltmeter from American Sport Bike http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/16076.html to my XB9SX. I was wondering if anyone with the XBS has one and where did you mount yours? There really isn't much for places to mount this on the XBS and I need ideas. | ||

That's the Kuryakyn voltmeter. I bought mine for around $30 on E-Bay (they come in black or chrome) and mounted it on the upper triple clamp just forward of the handlebar clamps and ran the wires under the console edge to the wiring harness. Retail for these is $40 so American Sport Bike is right on for the price. Looks clean and works great. It's got a dimmer so that it's brighter during the day and dim at night. Great for monitoring your alternator and voltage regulator on these bikes. | ||

Stuck mine on the backside of the front break master cylinder. Since there are already a bunch of wires running from there to the steering stem..... Having said that, when I mounted one on my X-1, I cut a small bracket out of sheet aluminum, and mounted it on the handlebars in the center, behind the handlebar clamps. Both sites work about equally well for me. | ||

That reminds me. I bought one of these when my charging system wasn't working. Fixed the charging problem. Still haven't found an aesthetically pleasing way of mounting the led's. Anyone? | ||

Is there a gauge that would show how many amps your entire system is drawing? That would be pretty handy for rigging up auxiliary lighting and accessories. ~SM | ||

my charging system agony taught me-- a voltage gauge tells you battery voltage.yeah fine ,great. i came to the conclusion i need to know the amps made by the charging system. when the charging system craps on ya,this is the thing we need to know.how many amps is it making? point made-- if voltage reg dies you can be told it is making 12 volts.it can make 12 v and no amps it can also be reading the battery voltage and it's amp load. so if u know your battery is likely good, knowing what the alt is making (the amps) is key to monitor the system. given the choice between one or both gauges i'd take the ammeter to know what the alt is putting out. | ||

Normal charging voltage is 13.1-14.8v when running. At rest, the battery full charged is 12.6v. If you are riding and your voltage is 12v, you have a charging system failure. That's the one I got. My parents have the one that have the one with the fuel level and volt meter on it. The Volt meter saved them before when my fathers VR went. | ||
