2003 xb9s
squeaks
i have determined it is in the clutch or pulley.when at speed and i hold or let off throttle, it squeaks.when i pull in the clutch squeak stops.
what i know
my primary drive lube is about halfway thru its life.
i lubed the cable end and the cable housing itself and that made the whole thing work better.did that last summer.
i welcome useful suggestions LOL
thanks BadWebbers!!

Pogue, let the bike run in neutral until the fan comes on. If it still squeaks in neutral the clutch needs an adjustment and possible replacement. I went through this a couple years ago and a new Barrett clutch fixed it.

Yep, mine would squeak after the bike got hot. It would only stop if I pulled the clutch in. Drove me nuts until I figured it out.

Yes, could be. Another thing to look at is how it shifts hot. If it's more difficult when hot it needs to be adjusted.

Clutch adjustment: inside primary.
Clutch lever free-play: clutch cable below steering head.
