I like the Cherry Bombs. I ran them on my hotrods way back when and on some pickups in my more recent times. I always liked the sound much more than the 'hollow can' sound from all metal mufflers.

The only engine that burned out the packing was a nasty high compression big cammed header flowed 327 that I built and ran in my '71 Camaro. 8,500 RPM too frequently is likely the culprit. All of the times I ran stock engines with or without headers they lasted just fine.

When my stocker rusts off(a few more years I hope) I have plans for a pair of Cherry Bombs side by side under my Uly. It will be quieter with two and they will not be as likely to burn out that way.

I remember way back when...
After a good run the Cherry Bombs would be nice and hot.
We'd run water up the pipe to cool off the packing, it'd break it up nicely, making them more loud, but a little less loud than straight pipes.
Oh those were the days!
I had a set on my 66 Dodge Coronet and my 67 AMC Rebel.
Man! I miss those cars!

I was eyeballing the 7425 http://cherrybomb.com/products/extreme but two shortys side by side would look sweet. The 7425 is 2 3/4" wider than stock so the chin spoiler would be have to go.

Yes, a fabricator friend engineered one to fit inside the stock can. Looks totally stock, 'cept for the frankenwelding, to the unknowing observer.

How did it sound? Any dead spots in the rpm range? I wouldn't expect it to do anything for power but a great sound wouldn't be worth losing much power for.
