My 09 xb12scg was much fun and still is, but with the installation of the drummer exhaust I get a slow throttle drift back to idle which is irritating.
Any ideas on how to get back that stock quick decel response ?

Not sure how to fix it, but it's caused by lack of back pressure.

Never heard that one before...

If it's the same from speed to 2000rpm, then slows from there to idle, it's more than likely a simple idle adjustment.
Try to adjust it, it's just behind the left side scoop.
They're sensitive, so adjust a little bit at a time, test, and adjust again if necessary.

I call it "hanging high idle", 'cause my bike will do it, too.
Try this, works for me:
Keep bike in gear until below 2k, then release engine to drop to normal idle rpm (think I read this tip 'here').

adjust your idle just a little bit high will cause the bike to hang. Don't forget to do your auto TPS after you shut it down.
1 start bike warm up
2 adjust idle a little lower
3 ride bike
4 shut down upon restart do your auto tps thingy you should be good

Mine has done it since I put the "Race" ecm in. The good news is the down shifts are much better, because of the elevated RPM causing a better meshing of the gears.
I just do as mentioned above, wait to pull in clutch until almost stopped.

Since you have an 09, you can't adjust the idle. You can do the TPS reset on your own. I would try that first. It is very easy. Do a search for the procedures. It has been posted a few times. Good luck.

The bike is pretty new, but I would also check the throttle cables. They could be hanging up somehow, and it doesn't cost you anything to check them.

I had the sticky throttle problem on my 07 built TT, the cables can get nipped between the fork leg & frame for one thing, but I found the real problem was a lack of lube at the butterfly in the airbox.
Bit of a PITA to get at but it's a free fix with a can of WD40.

wouldn't it in fact be a less than $5 fix as you would have to buy the can of wd40?

Cherry,

1) with the engine off, check to make sure your throttle quickly snapps back to closed on its own - if not, you need to adjust the (2) cables to allow more slop in the throttle.

2) Do a TPS reset with the following steps (feature on 08+ xb's):
a) Ignition to RUN
b) Turn key to ON
c) Roll throttle to full open and back to closed 3 times in a row, holding at the open/closed positions for 1 full second each.
d) Turn key to off. DONE

3) Make sure you're not just noticing the sound of the new exhaust. Buell engine rev climbs/falls aren't snappy like other bikes due to the long stroke and heavy components. Get a race ECM for $250, it's well worth it and I've found mine works really well with my Drummer & K&N airfilter on my 0812. You can get this at ErikBuellRacing.com. This will very likely fix your issue, along with waking up your bike a little too!

good luck

Hanging idles indicate a lean condition.
