As predicted, the "usual suspect" steps in it and accuses me of things I did not say.

1. I did not mention the VR1000, Brian did. If that touched a nerve with you, direct it at him, not me.

2. Buell bashing? If you bother to read my post (I know you just look for your name) you would see I direct my criticism at all air cooled twin teams and any Ducati 748/9 Teams. None have showed up to date.

The only question at an AMA FX race will be which Honda wins. If that keeps up, SpeedTV will stop airing those races and put on the Superstock races, which have way more starpower and better racing than FX has so far. Then when Buell does show up and they are not on TV, you'll bitch and moan that SPEED is biased too.

3. "you don't know what the hell you are talking about."

Coming from someone who has never been to a Formula USA/AMA PRO Thunder events to my knowledge, has talked to the teams, seen the amount of direct support and "unobtanium" parts they do get from Buell compared to other "lesser" teams and described them in my earlier post above as "Factory Backed, Dealer operated" and not "full-on 100% Factory" as you say I said gives you ZERO credibility on this subject.

You know about this as much as you know about 130 HP AMA Supersport 600's or 150 HP Formula Extreme 600's (neither of which exist)

To compare the LSR and FX efforts as equal in terms of Factory support is an insult to the LSR team who truly did it themselves.

Maybe anonymouse can answer these questions, which I don't know the answer to, to clear up how "factory backed" they really are?

1. Who's funding it? Did Hal's and Kosco round up their own money to fund a Full AMA FX season racing effort independently of each other?

2. Both teams were at Barber recently to test. Were they both there to share costs, because they are both on Pirelli's?

3. Who builds the engines? Are they built at Hal's and Kosco independently of each other or are the engines built by Buell and shipped to them?

4. Who owns the bikes? Whose name is on the title? Where do they go back to in the event of a mechanical problem or a crash for diagnosis?

Bads1,

That is what is known as "Sudden-Expertisim"

All that is required to be a sudden expert is to have seen a race bike pass by on a trailer on the road, know a guy who knows a guy that races, or read at least two web pages that have the word racing on the page.

You can see many examples all through this thread.

Or perhaps just maybe....actually have talked to someone who works right in the damn shop with the race team!

Dyna I have spoke to Bubba on that subject off line. And is far as the HP thing I'm only repeating what I was told that I thought would be a very reliable source.

<sigh> Misread, misquoted, attacked again... Such is life in a Buell discussion forum...

As predicted, the "usual suspect" steps in it and accuses me of things I did not say.

1. I did not mention the VR1000, Brian did. If that touched a nerve with you, direct it at him, not me.

I did direct that comment to Brian there sparky.

2. Buell bashing? If you bother to read my post (I know you just look for your name) you would see I direct my criticism at all air cooled twin teams and any Ducati 748/9 Teams. None have showed up to date.
Please. We are all well aware of your motivation in posting such comments here. Trying to disguise your animosity towards Buell racing by including a few other players ain't fooling us.

The only question at an AMA FX race will be which Honda wins.
You can thank HRC for that. Why do you think they put their ace #1 pilot on an FX bike and forsook Supersport entirely?

If that keeps up, SpeedTV will stop airing those races and put on the Superstock races, which have way more starpower and better racing than FX has so far.
I think I'll be patient and wait for 5 or 6 races to go by before I start making any such claims. How many races have we seen? Oh, just one? rolleyes

Then when Buell does show up and they are not on TV, you'll bitch and moan that SPEED is biased too.
Damn right! I'm a Buell fan! I bitch and moan from the perspective of a Buell fan. I don't bitch and moan from the perspective of an AMAPR executive aka a placator of Japan Inc.

But you still don't know what the hell you are talking about.

You know about this as much as you know about 130 HP AMA Supersport 600's or 150 HP Formula Extreme 600's (neither of which exist)
See my last statement.

To compare the LSR and FX efforts as equal in terms of Factory support is an insult to the LSR team who truly did it themselves.
See my statement before the last one above.

I'll root for 'em, but I don't think that a privateer race team on an as of yet not race tested bike is going to place when their are so many established and dialed in teams competing.

While many will think this, and it may or may not happen, the thing to remember is:

Hals race team was the first twin to ever make the big show at the drag races, while they were not the first to win, they were the first to get in(final 8 at an NHRA national), dont count out there race team as doomed to faliure, they have some very talented people up there, and can pull some pretty big numbers given enuff time(yes they qualified before the V&H team ever did)

Ok on Tilley's
we got the same support that hal's did...but cut that in half because we had to spread it out over 2 riders and bikes, Not 1 rider for 2 bikes.

I won't say anymore on it because it just becomes some much speculation.

We are drag racing frankly because Don is having fun winning. So is tripp. anybody that says winning is not the only thing is lieing.

would Tripp love to roadracing, ask him, I think we all know the answer to that one.

we are supposed to be doing 4 formula usa races this year , atleast thats what I've been told.

When Don decides to go road racing again, I am sure he will.
the help the factory does give to the teams is great and all teams appreciate it.

Henry Duga is the best at what he is doing and has more knowledge than any of us put together when it comes to buell racing. His help IMHO is priceless. so try and put a dollar figure on what henry does.

Also Buell is a small company really and the money and support they give to the teams is not small, don't get that wrong. But racing in the higher levels of the sport doesnot come cheap.

hell racing as a weekend warrior does not come cheap.

as far as the 150 hp engine....and lasting til the end of the race. It is just my lame opinon and should be taken that way

Didn't the announcement that Buell would field an FX team come a little late? I'd guess that there was a "corporate decision" that was delaying the start of the team's development. It certainly doesn't ring of "corporate commitment to win."

Buell is owned by HD, whose pockets are certainly deep enough to support a real race program. They don't seem interested in doing that (for road racing anyway). What Buell has done is post real contingencies for Thunderbike, which has led (surprise, surprise) to a field filled with Buell's.

AMAPR threw the bone to Buell for FX; but the money's got to come from somewhere. If the racing budget is limited, maybe Buell decided that more "grass roots" support in FUSA would provide them with better mojo than a single AMA FX team.

Bring one with you to the track, and sit on it.

My point exactly. Buell needs to be either seen on TV winning OR get really good distribution through word of mouth. Seems like contingency money paid to racers that aren't on TV would be the latter choice. I REALLY hope it works.

Does anyone know if Buells are going to be racing at Infineon (Sears Point) at the end of the month, or at Laguna Seca in July?
