Was wondering if anyone had the numbers as to how much some carbon fiber parts cost vs. stock?

Front fender:
Heal guards (both rider and passenger):
Chin fairing:
upper and lower belt guards:
Rear fender:

Also, will the vista cruise throttle lock work with the heated grips and wind deflectors? Are there carbon fiber wind deflectors?

Haha I'm extremely surprised i get the opportunity to be the 1st to reply to this question Doughnut: Go on a diet, exercise, and you'll shave off 10-30 lbs for free compared to the 2 lbs you'd end up paying $1,000 for the carbon fiber parts. With the name doughnut, I could only assume this is a good idea!

Biggest weight loss will be the pass pegs/mounts and the cheese grater. But as said above you might save a couple pounds at most with the cf stuff.

i was fitting up a vista cruise onto my heated grips but got hesitant about hacking into them, and chickened out. i'm sure it can be doen, though.

if you are looking to lighten your load on your bike ebay is not the way to go. a lot of times the CF stuff on there is more heavy then the plastic parts you have on your bike already. If you are going to go with CF stuff for weight savings Go with some one reputable like American Sport Bike or Trojan which are both sponsors here on this site.

Its way cheaper to lose a few pounds off your ass. If you lay your bike down with carbon fiber. It would suck.

I had some CF on my Uly. Not sure how much it weighed. The plastic airbox weighs next to nothing, CF weighs NOTHING. It felt lighter than a thick piece of paper. If your goal is to shave off lbs, CF should be your last step as a lighter battery, lighter tail section, mag wheels, and a dozen other things have a better weight reduction to cost ratio.

CF sure is pretty though! : D

Avoid the Chinese eBay junk. American Sport Bike stuff and the Buell OEM stuff are top notch. Trojan in the UK has an excellent selection too.

How much weight savings is there with an exhaust change? I know it is true for Japanese models, but haven't had the luxury of weighing in a change between stock and aftermarket.
Also, if you want to risk it, you can lose all the belt protector stuff. I'm sure some wouldn't recommend it, but I rode without it for a while without any noticeable difference or safety issues.

In the grand scheme of things, I think CF is more aesthetic and the cost to weight savings doesn't seem to add up unless wind drag and that extra 2-3 lbs gets you to a finish line faster. I agree with the losing weight on your body first. I'm a bit heftier than I wanna be, but I would much rather save money on food by not eating and lose 20 lb, rather than spend $2K on saving 2! : )

+1 on the lighter battery too!

I understand the point of there being better places to shave weight, but I also like the look of cf and have been looking at some greatly reduced prices. And since I already started a thread (I hate starting threads) has anyone used a Throttle miester (sp?) with the hand guards?

And again, the weight difference is curiosity, I don't think for a second that cf is going to make me a better rider or shave off hugh amounts of weight, But I do like the look and was wondering the difference compared to stock parts.

The stock Buell plastics are already very light weight. I don't know the specs but have held each plastic piece of my Uly in my hand and was always pleasantly surprised at how light they were. In fact, most of the bike is surprisingly light. The first time I hefted a wheel and tire assembly I got an evil grin. On the other hand, the triple tail is a boat anchor. Gotta be nearly 10 lbs.

It hasn't been on the road since my wreck back in June, but it seems fine so far. I had no issues with it during the 8 months or so I ran it. I would swap it into my one of my 1125's if it wasn't such a pain in the balls to remove the stocker.
