I am in the market to buy an xb9-12 track bike. For the past two seasons I have been riding my 1125 street bike at track days. So this year as I step up the pace I thought I would buy a track bike. But I am worried the xb will disapoint me on power. I am also kind of worried about the size of the xb. I am 6'2" 200 pounds without leathers. So what do you guys think, will I enjoy an xb like I do my 1125r?

I would say turn your 1125 into a track bike and get a xb for the street but that is just my opinion.

I would turn the 1125 into my track bike but I am still making payments on it. When it is paid off it will be my track bike.

It will be different, but do it. I have a 1125 for the street and race a 12R in the CCS/ASRA series. I also raced a 9R.
The XB's are more than capable race/track bikes. I've been racing for 5 years and I know the bike still has more than I'm getting out of it. As for your height, I believe you and Paul James are about the same size, and he was very successful on his XB.

Im with Rocket on this one.

I started racing CCS last year and had both my 12r and 1125 on the track. I really love the power and the feel of the 1125, but there is something about my firebolt that just makes me feel more "at home" on the track.

Better to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow.

I'd say go for the XB on the track. You are NOT RACING on track days, you are LEARNING. One or two seconds faster due to a bigger motor is NOT going to make YOU a better rider.

Don't rely on the bike, rely on your ability.

You can learn a LOT on the XB - if your goal is to learn.

The SV was a hoot for a couple seasons. Fell a LOT - and it was duct-taped, zip-tied and wired together... scratched, dented, rusting gas tank. It was a great feeling to out run litrebikes in the turns on a bike with half the HP.

For reference, I'm 6'1", 210lbs. Mine's going to be a track only bike after I/it was involved in a car accident. The only time I felt I needed a bit more juice on my stock bike is on the last half of the back straight at Mid-O, but at my level I just need to figure out how to carry more speed through the key-hole before I start worrying about having more HP. The little bolt is a lotta fun on the track and I hope I get to keep doing more of it. Pic was pre-accident, I should be able to get the old girl on the track more often this year.

Ceejay,
I think you can carry a ton of speed through the keyhole. I have been trying to carry a few mph and have ran off a few times. I have the hardest problem at the end of the back straight. That is were I lose all of my time. There and the last corner going to the start finish.

I have 1125R and XB9 track bikes. Non-racer. 220lbs rider.

The Niner is a lot of fun. It will out corner just about every bike except a few motards. It is very hard to pass 600/1k IL4s on the st8s. On nashville's front stretch it runs out of steam and hits its 140ish 5th gear redine about half way down the str8. Then the IL4s pass me like I am backing up. 1125r has power to pass in the str8s. Its like a slightly longer Niner with twice the power.

IMHO:
Which one do I chose to ride @ the track? It depends on the track. Tally/Jennings/Barber are tighter shorter tracks, XB9R. Nashville/road atl have some tight spots, but they also have some fast straights, 1125R.

I think the XB will be cheaper to keep running and spare part should be easier to find and replace.

I hope that helps.
