i have installed a hid kit and the lights would cut out when reving the engine, come to find out it was to high a voltage.when the bike is at idle it is like 14volts and when reved it is about 18 volts

The connection to the voltage regulator was a common weakspot on 2007 and earlier models. That is most likely the situation here.

you mean the conector from the stator
