I am looking at a bike that is listed for sale online in a nearby town. its a 2007 xb12Ss with 3500 miles hes asking 5700.
It says this in the discription, "It was tipped over on a previous owner and scratched things were fixed with aftermarket parts by a licensed mechanic including:
- Turner handle bars
- Jardine dual exhaust
- Black translucent air box
- Bar end mirrors
- Paint match tail section
- LED front and rear blinkers with tail tidy kit."

this will be my first buell. Just wondering if theres anything I should be looking for and what your opionions of a fair price is. Thanks in advance!

always have been and always will be leery of a used bike unless i know of the bike/owner or i know of someone who knows of this bike. it's been tipped over so what really got tweeked bad enough to change out the handlebars and have to have the airbox cover needing replaced not to mention the exhaust. i got lucky on the replacement m2 that i got as far as no frame damage that i can tell of. had it up to 137 and no vibration but the motor had been reworked and didn't last. like boney said, go find a new one and if you have to, take a trip.

Hey I paid new price but from what I can gather with the details you offer,, The bike has been over one. Repairs where made probably replacing parts from a willy gone wrong. The fixed it up and covered up as much of the damage as possible. For the price and mileage it sounds good to me but just give it a good look over for cracked motor mounts. header damage, belt condition, and any other part changed. Look for recent work and check the area. Look at the frame and swing arm. Check the brakes and when locked up try and move the bike looking for loose parts. Do your own start up. Start it cold so YOU can hear the engine noise if any. Ask for service records. If he say he services it his self ask him details like how much oil and what filter he uses. If you can look into the air box. The filter may be new so look for signs of oil and dust. Check the tire pressure. If it high you may believe he airs them up to last your inspection. You may very well get a great deal on a bike someone did not know how to respect. Good luck.

I've been shopping pretty hard and have found new '07's in that price range, but no new '09's for that. Best I've found is Around $1200 more...

But with that said I'd probably pass on that bike. As has been covered in another thread, the non-originality is generally not a plus...

to much money for a bike with possible crash damage $3500-$3900 max. Buells have no resale value when used check out ebay auctions and the auctions close to he auction ending and you will see what I mean.

New 09 and 2010 buells all sold for $6500 -$7000 in the last 2 months

Yeah, I think they've all gone up since then. I'd pay a $200 finders feed to anybody who could find me a new '09 red or blue Ss for that in the northeast...

Oh, there's still some around - but just not that cheap ($5200), that's all... And although the Buell site lists American as having a red Ss, I called them a week or 2 ago, and they told me it was gone. I've run into that a lot in my shopping.

The site lags slightly, but also will list bikes that are sold but not picked up yet, and some other not for sale bikes.

It's interesting, Sweetwater in San Diego was showing an SS (still does I think) but the dealer says it's gone. When I bought mine at SDHD, the website was updated within hours. Not sure why there would be such a difference between dealers.
