I've never had much luck posting in the 'Parts Wanted' area, so maybe this will get more traffic. I'm looking to trade my stock Lightning front end for that of a Firebolt. I'm sure there are others looking/considering the same swap...I hope. Maybe this will be a good place to trade.

My plastic is black (matte - not painted, so can be shined up easily). Looking for same color. Need everything north of the forks including top triple.

eBay is a great place to buy and sell...not trade. This was intended as a trade thread.

I am trying to do the same thing to my 08 xb12s. its not supposed to be that difficult, but ive heard that the main difference between the xb12s and xb12r is that the firebolt houses most of its wiring and electronics in the nose while the xb12s houses everything under the seat. Please keep me informed on how the swap went for you, and let me know of any shortcutts you might find. I am about to do the same transformation, turn my lightning into a "lightningbolt"

Yeah, the Firebolt does keep all the electrics up front. The other difference is in the ignition cylinder and how it mounts (from what I've gathered). Looks like either will work with some modification, though.

I did mine a couple years ago....pretty straight forward.... your better off just getting the firebolt ignition......and the headlight pigtails are different.....those are the only 2 things that are issues if i remember correctly.......the rest is just bolt on and go

Do either one of you want a white fairing and a headlight for a firebolt? It has been sanded and is rough finish. Needs some work. I dont know if the headlight is one that has been fixed with the recall, but it has the S style plug on it. I was going to do the conversion myself but lost interest. I would consider a trade for the S housing that holds all the upfront guts of the S. I have been kinda trying to find it so I could modify it for the R tree to fit.

I think it came with a clear windshield but I havent seen it in over a year. Its still at my parents house in the original box that the other guys shipped the parts to me.

Just let me know if either of you are interested.

I just remembered throttle cables are shorter on the bolt as well as the brake line.....but both are doable
