Hello everyone! This is my first post, so thanx to everyone for making me feel welcome! I have recently bought an 08' xb12s. I love my bike, but the guys i ride with are all rice rockets. Its annoying getting dusted by jap 600's and them thinking that they have a better bike because it is faster, haha. Anyways, I am kinda in love with the firebolt and It really looks like I can turn my bike into a xb12r without TOO MUCH moddn'. So can Anyone tell me if I can put a firebolt seat and front fairing on my xb12s??? I can make it work too, if I have too. I am a welder and have access to a preetty decent machine shop. any feed back would be much appreciated!! I am soooo in love with buell, this is my first buell, and it is also my very first bike!!! I feel like I have made the right choice with buell, I just wanna start tunning it to beat the brakes off my rice rocket buddys!!

it has been done time and time again. best if you find someone locally, and can meat-up and swap on the spot.
some times things get forgotten and then have to be shipped separately.

so you wanted to do both the front modules, AND the tail?

Jaylightnn08,

Welcome to the BadWeb.

On getting dusted by 600s. Set up your suspension and then meet them in the twisties. All they will see is tail light.

On the swap the only major thing is the placement of the electronics, the S parts are under the seat while the R parts are in the nose.

Good luck, and ride hard.

Run the search here on the swap. There a hand full of threads discussing it. I've never done it myself but it doesn't seem hard to do, just time consuming.

If you keep it under 110mph, you should be able to stay ahead of any 600 out there. My 12s only had the factory race kit installed, and it would walk on 600's up to about 110. I'm not a light guy either!

Keep it safe and understand why you don't need topend to outride someone. Practice safely putting a knee down on a good set of clean cloverleafs and you will earn some serious respect.

going to the dragon a few years ago went and passed a couple on his ninja whatever it was on a hairpin turn. and that was on the cyclone. and i'm not the best out there but the bike makes you a better rider in itself. so don't worry about joe rice even if they do. there are a ton of good people right here to be involved with. wouldn't want it any other way.

I was riding last Sunday with some friends, (they have Hardly cruisers), we were on our way to an out of the way Starbucks for a cup. 2 Gsxr1000's pulled up at a light, one wheeled at tthe green, the other took off fast, next light was one block ahead., then a very twisty 2 mile road to Starbucks. I buzzed both gsxr's, scared the pants off one guy in the first turn, after the light, and just touched off my knee. Got my coffee, came outside, and was sitting at an outside table with a few other bikers, when the 2 startled Suzi Q's came in slowly, followed closely by my cruiser buddies, one said "you can RIDE", I said "shoulda seen me when I had both feet" the guys at the table laughed, they saw me limp to my seat, lol. You got the right bike, "own the corners".

Jay, you seem to have two problems that are not necessarily related.

1. You wish your Lightning was a Firebolt.

2. You wish you could dust 600 cc. in line four Japanese race replicas.

These are entirely different problems as converting a Lightning to a Firebolt will not make it any faster.

If you want your Lightning to look like a Firebolt, the simplest thing is to trade bikes. Buying all the stuff you need for the conversion not to mention the time involved, will cost you more than just trading bikes.

If you want to beat Japanese 600's you would be best advised to learn how to be a better rider by going to a riders school at a local track day.

Speed through a twisty section of road is much more dependent on rider skill than the motorcycle.

Keep in mind that a well ridden 600 is simply faster than an XB12 because it has more horsepower, and there is nothing the matter with the brakes or handling either. In fact the capability of either the XB12 or a 600 far exceeds the capabilities of all but the most expert riders.

Bottom line: Track days.

PS: You can change the riding position of your twelve by changing out the handlebars for Clubman's bars as used on the 1125CR.

My bicycle has that modification, and I have found it useful.

xx
