Smaller diameter forks on the 2004 models. 2004-41mm 2005-43mm You could get them and then swap the triple trees also. (Message edited by XBGeorge on December 23, 2009) | ||

There was a fork design change in 2005. I'm not sure of the specifics; maybe somebody else could elaborate. I do know there was a diameter increase, but am unsure whether it affects the uppers. Check the parts book, and see if the triple-tree changed numbers. My personal opinion: Why the h--- would anyone want to cover up such a perfectly beautiful metal with black? But that's just me. | ||

Yep if you want the black forks, either paint yours or buy the black forks and buy new triple trees. Painting/powdercoat/etc would probably be cheaper. | ||

ok thanks i was almost positive the 9's had 41's and 12's had the 43's. im one of these odd people that when i change things i will buy extras even if im modifying stock because i like to have original parts sitting to the side. | ||

41mm is also on the CG models if that's what you are thinking | ||

thanks delta one. im not looking to lower the bike but that mey be helpful as its possible i may put some of the perfomance springs from buell in there as well so i may be taking them apart anyway. | ||

I didn't think you were, I was only trying to let you know that its not the 9's that are 41 but the CG's or in my case the L's.  this spring I will try to find somebody who wants to trade an 05 or newer suspension for my low model just so I can put in the race spring set. keep us posted on how it feels after the swap, | ||

thanks will do. if my girl has to get a regular lightning at tax time instead of a cg at tax time she will need the low/cg suspension. i will keep you in mind. | ||

Just for clarification on the fork sizes: 41mm - 03-04 All XB models. All year SCG/SL 43mm - 05-10 XB-R,S,SX,SS,STT,XT. 06-07 X. 47mm - 08-10 X, 1125R, 1125CR. |
