i did not realize the buell production numbers.we are truly a minority owner of the finest ride out there : )

Why was a scg the last? You'd think an 1125 would be a more fitting end.

Of course on a personal note the scg's are the best imho, LOL!

They made the SCG last because it would be on display not being used, so they picked the worst model as to not waste good parts. All the 1125's out there are going to actually get use instead of just wasting space. : )

Because XB's were the most successful Buell models- the bikes that truly put BMC on the world stage. It wouldn't be fitting for it to be any other model- especially the 1125 series.

You mean the bikes that got Buell laughed off the world stage? Not many took Buell seriously till the 1125's came out. Check out recent reviews featuring the CR and how all the magazines love it. It has all the amazing handling engineering the XB has, but without the lackluster motor.

It simply boils down to a "Ford vs Chevy" debate... most will choose one side or the other. The majority of reviews of XB's over the years were positive excepting the "lackluster" motor- which cannot be compared to the "race-bred" powerplants currently found in streetbikes. On the other hand, the majority of reviews of the 1125 series agree the motor is finally able to compete with the competition- but the styling is worthy of a good laugh. Either way- you have one model lacking power, one model lacking aesthetics, with both sharing an amazing chassis and world-class handling. The buying public made their choice, and then H-D shut the whole thing down.

To some, tubers are the "true" Buell models, others XB's, and very recently the 1125 crowd chimed in. I base my opinion on production numbers, world-wide acceptance, and personal preference. For me, the XB's will always be the quintessential Buell model- and there will always be those who disagree. I just feel blessed I was able to own two tubers (S1 & X1) and two XB's (XB9R & XB12R), and am pretty damn mad I won't be able to own a Barracuda.

I know some find it annoying that they wound up at Barber. All I have to offer is this -- you MUST go to that museum. It is out-of-this-world, unbelievably, Oh My God good. Everywhere you look is something you've owned, read about, heard a rumor of, saw in a magazine when you were a kid, or wished you could live to see. Do not go into that place hungry, in a hurry, or thinking that you'll take a quick peek. It's worth planning a road trip around. Seriously.

A family friend is a Michelin distributor who donated a truckload of tires to them several years ago (used race tires from many names you'd recognize). My Dad went along for the ride and tells an interesting story about watching them fire up an MV Agusta they had just finished. It was one of the old 500cc race bikes in their collection, and according to my father, it sounded "glorious".

I hope to do a trackday there on my CR one day...
