Last I've heard he's done and through with HD, not sure about the patents though. I know most of the patents are in HDs name. Wikipatents can clear the patent fuzz for ya, or the actually US patent website.

And believe it or not, I know this has nothing to do with the original post, but the Hells Angels have their logo(cant remember what they call their vests)patented. Who's going to steal the Hells Angels logo unless they wanted to get shot?

Disney tried. And they weren't shot, they were sued.

Logos can't be patented. There is other copyright protections, like Trademark. All large organizations trademark their logos.

So Court, who's name are all the Buell patents in?

Erik's name?

Or under BMC, which is under Harley?

If he owns the patents and has a no compete clause until 2011, then we may be able to see some nice stuff in 2012 (just in time for the end of the world).

You know what... I'd be happy with a 70-90 horsepower Rotax version of the XB series, as long as it is liquid cooled and fuel injected.

Would the Rotax not be as efficient as it is if it were air cooled? Personally I think my scg would be ugly with a radiator unless it were hidden, plus it'd add weight but I'm only 130lbs so if it added 30 or so pounds I wouldn't mind.

An all aluminum block, heads, cylinders would be a lot lighter. Different cams could save a lot of weight too.

Rotax knows how to build air cooled engines. I thought that an air cooled version of the Helicon would have been an awesome mill in an upgraded Uly, and would have had tremendous range in the 1125's larger capacity frame/fuel tank. Power could have easily been right up there with the BMW HP2; around 120hp out of the box. There was also a time when I thought that the same engine could have finally replaced the ancient Sportster powerplant, but I now realize that no Harley deserves a motor like that, and no one would want it anyway.
