A was at American Sport Bike and was thinking about doing the oil pump drive upgrade... started adding up the cost of everything and was wondering if anyone has had the dealer do this? If so how much did they charge?

Actually I just had this done at a dealer. They checked my primary drive for clunking in the trans I have and replaced the intake seals. I'd say you are looking at $600-700 just for the drive gear upgrade, parts and labor. Have you checked yours? I didn't bother and just had it replaced. Turned out to be a big waste of money for me, 47,000 miles and mine looked almost new. Some wear in the center of the teeth but it would have gone another 47,000.

I think that is last time my bike is going to a dealer. While washing my bike yesterday I noticed my clutch cable leaks 10x more than it did and my oil pump is leaking now. It's great paying somebody to do a job you have to go back and fix.

Definitely check the gear before you pay someone to change it. It's a ~30 minute job tops and requires only a couple of tools and ideally one new gasket (although you could probably get away with reusing the old one). There are several threads here about how to do the check.

Looks like I would be changing my self. Haven't checked it for wear yet. Will be changing the oil soon and will give it a look. May pick one up to have around for when it's needed.
Thanks for the replys
