I had an engine overhaul from a tranny issue, all's good there. I ported the heads and cleaned the pistons to like new goodness. my Q is that when im on the gas not even WOT i kinda feels a loss of power to the rear wheel, the engine is still climbing as it should but it seems as if there is a pause in force. im thinking either is the clutch slipping or that the tire is breaking loose. I just put on a new barnet clutch and its adjusted properly AFAIK. I just got some new tires some pirelli corseIII fronts and Michelin PP 2CTs rear, they are broken in good too. I was thinking that because I ported the it there may be more power to the bike and stuff.. So does the rear tire break loose in a XB12 easily? |

Does the back end feel like it is on something slippery? You should definitely feel if the tire is slipping. How many miles have you gone at cruise between 3500 and 5000rpm? The engine may be flowing more air with the head work and it may need time to learn the new parameters. |

If the rear tire breaks loose, and you don't know it, you will fall down. And then you will know that the tire broke loose and you slid out. If you are unsure, it isn't happening. |

na it was higher in the tach range, i'd say 4-6k How many miles have you gone at cruise between 3500 and 5000rpm? i dunno, why? on something slippery? na, its solid in the corners, since the overhaul, 1st gear is a crazy quick gear to use. i notice it when i crack the throttle for a short burst of speed. |

It most likely is the clutch not being adjusted correctly. It can take a little trial and error to get it good. |

You wont have that problem with a Buell no matter what you do it it... It takes SERIOUS power to make tires slip in a straight line. 3+ times more power then a Buell can produce. Probably a clutch problem. Also why the mixed tires? Most tires work best with the same model (not even just the same brand) but I know specifically Pirelli says their tires only work to their potential with the proper front and rear. Michelin rears are very very triangular, Pirelli's are the opposite, round. |

thats what i liked about the two, the Michelin is a hard-edged tire and the pirelli is a smooth tire. I like the combo . i had some corsaIII rears and hated the tires, they really sucked IMO.. havent tried the 2ct fronts yet but dont really want to b/c im fine with the pirelli's. I havent noticed the bike doing this much as because im not riding as much, this weekend i'll focus on it more. i'll check the clutch adjustment, im sure i have it good, but i'll check.... |
