I just bought a xb12ss - love it except the pegs. I really need another two inches or so. It;s the way I ride and what I envision doing with the bike. Anyone done this ? I understand it's about 300 bucks which sux but I can't really ride it much as it sits. All the other tricks seem part way solutions. I did research and find the lean I will lose is about 4 degrees. No big deal.

Thanks!

Yes, and like I have said before, you need a new brake line. It all bolts on once you got every part.

Froggy-
have you done this yourself yet? More parts than just the brake line and the two mounts?

Shift linkage. Uly pegs are helpful as the lighting ones don't fit quite right in the slots on the Uly lowers, plus the lowers and brake line.

$300.00+ for it all new and you lose clearance in the corners. You might want to change bars as well to keep everything in balance as far as seating position goes.

No I haven't done it but I stayed in a Holiday Inn last night!

I did check in to all that was needed and decided to tough it out, Too cheap to spend to money. Lot cheaper to get a sport saddle or have one rebuilt to make it thicker and raise you up a couple of inches

Its $300 for the peg mounts alone, then you need the pegs, brake line, shift linkage.

Yes I have done it, along with Steve_mackey. It all bolts on no problem, the only real issue is installing the brake line, you need to bleed the brakes and such.

I lost a ton of lean angle doing this, not sure how you calculated only 4 degrees. I was looking into getting raised pegs to counter my lean angle loss.

Froggy-
I calculated lean angle right off the website for specs form xt and ss bikes. It looks like the drop is about 2-3 inches? I had to eyeball it from the photos looking at various screw heights and comparing.

Maybe if the precision engineering guy can make a pair for the ss, that inch plus a seat change will give me what I need. Then of course I will need to raise the bars another inch so I will be chasing this one a bit and on an d on.

Is it comfy enough now?

I found it to be less comfortable after changing it all. In fact my 09 1125CR is currently my touring bike, till I finish the 1125XT.

Man that 1125cr was a nice bike. Wanted one but I need the extra inch travel for bad roads and occasional easy dirt. Some deals on those.

Might you want to part with the parts? : )
