I've never been a lucky guy but it seems like the more I grow up the worst it gets, ONE MONTH after I bought my XB12Scg, Buell is being shut down, paid full price for the thing. Even tho it's worth it, gotta admit a 5g rebate would'nt have hurt, at least my Buell dealer is still servicing and providing parts(Motosport in Kingston). Not a constructive post but I had to talk about it with people who would understand!!! |

I hear ya on that bro. I just bought my second Buell back in March and just got rid of it this weekend because of the shut down. Harley really disappointed me with this move, they lost a really great brand. Didnt get near what the bike was worth on trade in but had to get rid of it cause value is dropping on these fast. Loved the bike but had to moved on. Sorry fellas, riding an 08 CBR1000 now |

"ONE MONTH after I bought my XB12Scg, Buell is being shut down" Sounds to me like you are VERY lucky- you got one the the best bikes made, and one of the last ones no doubt! "Sorry fellas, riding an 08 CBR1000 now" Why are you apologizing to us? Your loss. We still ride some of the greatest bikes ever made. |

Dude, get this: my bike was actually purchased by my in-laws back in December of 2005. They paid in full, so it saved me any interest. I just made my payments to them instead. However, since my father-in-law already had several other bikes, they just added the Buell onto their insurance. So I've been riding around on a bike for 3 years that technically wasn't mine. Just recently we got all the paperwork switched over. Everything is finally in my name; the bike is now legally mine. Care to guess what day it was all finalized? Yup. The day I finally owned my Buell is the same day of the closing announcement. How's that for uncanny? ~SM |

"I just bought my second Buell back in March and just got rid of it this weekend because of the shut down.... Didnt get near what the bike was worth on trade in but had to get rid of it cause value is dropping on these fast." What kind of F'd up logic is that? Not only was it a goofy reason in the first place, but it was the WORST possible time to sell it. The values will be back up once all the dealer stock has been wiped out for awhile. ~SM |

andymnelson: more power to you, I was just trying to tell a story. I just couldnt take the chance of not being able to get any parts or even service for that matter a year or 2 down the road even though Harley said they are going to continue to make parts, the prices on those are going to be through the roof. |

holy shit...you make one bad comment about Buells on here and everyone turns into a major dick. I owned 2 Buells and loved both of them, but it is ok to move onto another brand guys. |

Hey, I'm just sayin'. Sounds like you panicked just as bad as the H-D dealers, and it cost you. I'm sure that Honda is pretty sweet. ~SM |

I believe the drop in resale is a temporary thing. As soon as all the current inventory is gone prices will be back to pretty much what they were worth before. As Swordsman said, now is probably the worst time to sell used...definitely the best time to buy! Yeah the discount would have been nice, but I still got a fair deal for my bike...and in all reality I could care less about the resale value...if it would worth a dollar as soon as I was off the lot it wouldn't matter to me, I'm riding this thing till the wheels fall off! |

It will pay you back. Just keep riding! My wife bought her Scg in March. She went from an 2007 Sportster and she can't believe she wasted so much time on the Sportster! |

There is a drop in resale value on all Buells simply because of a limited time rebate of $3k off from the factory? Interesting, that means I can pick up a few more dirt cheap. I wish I could, 4 Buells in the garage, no room for more! |

I hope they sold you plenty of oil with that 08 CBR1000. Those things are oil burning pigs and Honda won't do anything about it. |

danman: they actually did finally do something about it, Honda did a recall and fixed the massive oil burning problem. I bought this one new off the showroom floor with the recall already done on it. |

"you make one bad comment about Buells on here and everyone turns into a major dick." lol, at least I didn't call you names... Really, I was asking the question...why are you apologizing to us? I don't see how my comment warranted you calling me names... |

Spets: worse would have been going on tour and having this happen while you were overseas. You'd come back and they'd all be gone and you'd have lost the opportunity to ride a brand new one of your own. Luck is preparation meeting opportunity. Keep at your training. |

Went to closest dealer yesterday (Vallejo, Ca.) They had a blue City X and a leftover '08 1125R, and that's it. |

I guess you're right Iamarchangel!!! Personally I don't give a damn about the resale value tho, I totally intend to ride the hell out of that baby until it die. My next one will probably be a Triumph speed triple or a Ducati Monster...still debating, just got this one anyways, I gotta calm down before I get another one lol!!! |

I've never considered a bike to be an investment so resale value has never been an issue. The real value in a bike is shown through the rider's smile. |
