Just went for a 35-40min ride after having added some goodies to the bike. LSL pegs, tech spec pads, catch can (breather reroute) and a right side scoop (the large Uly one).

Breather reroute was very noticable, I liked it. Smoothed out the low and even somewhat the mid range nicely.

But man was the RSS awesome! Its pretty hot out today and the fan came on once. I was doing some hard riding in the hills to see if I could trip the fan. Nope. How about repeated low speed 1st gear power wheelies (lots of WOT, high RPM's and not much air). Nope.

Stopped at a red light, as I was leaving I THOUGHT I heard the fan (tough to tell over the drummer) so I hoped on the Hwy and did a fast WOT run to the next exit. Normally the fan would remain on with this type or riding, yes there is lots of air flow but the heavy throttle keeps the engine hot.

Got off at the exit, stopped at the red light for 30-45 seconds. No fan at all.

High speed fan came on at home when I turned off the bike then switched to low speed after around 15 seconds, thats normal, but I was amazed that the fan basically never came on while riding!

I have yet to hear my fan while riding since I installed the large RSS, and it comes on half as often when I shut down. Even then, when it does come on after shut down, it stays on for significantly less than usual.

Really sweet mod...

Next, primary chain adjustment, fresh spark plugs, fresh tranny/engine oil and whatever else I can do from the 10,000 mile service.

Eventually, Ill get a dyno tune and a custom tune... Then this thing will REALLY be running nice : ).

I noticed a down side to the RSS. On cold days (which you probably never have in CA), the frame doesn't act as a leg warmer anymore. <-think "icecube smiley"

Yeah I dont ride TO often in really cold days... And usually if I do I skip the one piece suit and put on some overpants. Even on the coldest CA day those pants over jeans (or alone with the liner) are plenty warm.

Its my upper body (chest, hands etc...) that usually get cold.

This past week it has been in the 40's in the morning for my ride to work...I have noticed the top of my thighs feel a bit chilly, but nothing too bad. My hands got pretty cold and painful, but I just got a pair of winter gloves, so that should be solved. I'll keep riding till it starts snowing...then it'll be back to 4 wheels.

Oh please, it isn't cold enough in California that you need to remove both scoops and stuff a rag in your oil cooler just to prevent oil issues.





(I took the left scoop off the next day)
