Since the day it was announced I knew it was the bike for me. My session at Mid Ohio Sports Car Course on it confirmed it.

I could only find one for sale within 200 miles, and they were willing to work.

My brand new 2009 XB12XT!

Started at $13,000. Marked down to $10,300. I said I was hoping for closer to $7000, they came back with $8000. I couldn't turn it down. They worked with me on a 3 year additional warranty as well as the comfort kit and the handlebar bag.

Just got home with it... it now has 190 miles! It should be broken in quite nicely after this weekend.

Oh, and this is from the track day. Same color and everything!

Great guys at Valley. Did they have any other bikes on the floor?

They had a new 08 Uly with no bags, and 2 09 XB12SS's.

I'm happy.

I really don't want to put much money into it (plus I don't want to void my 5 year warranty), but I do have some things to add. Mostly electrical because that stuff is cheap.

Flush mount 'battery tender' plug in the little heat shield under the seat.

All four turn signals will be running lights that blink off. (instead of being off all the time and blink on)

55 watt HID low beam with delayed start. (I bought the car kit for the Lightning, so I have one headlight kit left over).

Brake light flasher (Flashed 3 times before on steady every time I hit the brakes).

Some sort of additional lights on the tail. (In the red plastic bar across the trunk?)

They pretty open to dealing with you or did it require some effort?

Flush Mount battery tender / heated vest plug:

Also got installed the skate-board wheel axle sliders as well as the ram mount. Plus I adjusted the bars and levers.

Getting ready for the 1000 mile ride this weekend!

That looks good! Very clean install.

Where'd you get the flush mount tender plug?

My dealer gave me a tender with the bike, and had already installed the harness but it's just dangling neatly under the preload adjustment knob.

LOL, actually I figured out how to 2-up crazyness on my Lightning (leaned over so far I scraped the belly pan). But she DOES NOT like the lightning seat (can't say I blame her) so she's super excited about this bike. Plus with more room for the both of us, it may be easier to hang off on this one.

I have a feeling I'll be searching for higher peg options for this bike, as I know they're the first bits to drag.

I can't believe it, but I actually found the invoice from when I ordered that flush connector 2 years ago! Apparently the company specializes in Solar panels, and this connector is meant to install in the roof on an RV to plug a panel into.

It's sold here:

Just scroll to the bottom.

So what kind of dog is that in the background? We've got one that could be its twin! Always wondered what he is but have never seen another one like him.

It's a chow and golden retriever mix. Probably some other stuff mixed in there as well.

You have no idea.

I already packed the lightning's luggage rack for this weekends epic ride. Now I have this bike.... EVERYTHING I have packed up will fit in one bag. I guess I'll bring some more stuff!

Oh, and I always heard the rumors how easy the ulys wheelied (higher CG and the weight of the bags on the back). Now I know.

I need to open up the exhaust on the TT....
It just doesn't "Get it up" like the Uly.

Are you still going to sell the Michigan bike?

TT????

And I'm willing to sell the 'Michigan bike', but It's only costing me $100 per year (insurance), so I'm not going to lose my ass on it. I'll probably end up hanging onto it till the resale is reasonable again.
